“Pay for Shuttle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

Very nicely located in the golf course.... if your a golfer this is the place for you. Food was excellent and the windows in the rooms you can not open....for your security reasons....had to use their air conditioning system. Spa was a bit pricey. Didn't like that the sheets were not crisp white.... so I could see if their is any stains.....they were a soft cream colour. Some rooms have stale air....would of liked it if I were able to open a window.

Great resort atmosphere, set in the rolling hills of Virginia. Hard to believe we were less than :45 minutes to the nation's capital. Property has several beautiful golf courses (private but open to guests at hotel) and very convenient to Dulles Airport with regular shuttle service provided. A great location if you plan on visiting Udvar-Hazy Center (companion museum to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum) - and that should be a must see whether you are there for business, romance, family, etc...

I stayed at property after a couple of hectic days in DC and found the property wonderful (especially convenient as I was flying out of Dulles) as well as the service - each person I encountered was very attentive and helpful.

Will definitely stay there again. Next time I try the spa which looked phenomenal.

When we arrived into Dulles we learned that the shuttle ride was 30$ per person per way.

The hotel itself was nice and in a way fancy, the check in counter took a long time and wasn't very friendly.

The room was nice but in a way outdated it had a flat screen T.V but still outdated, if I had to come to lees burg again I would stay somewhere else.

We attended a wedding at Lansdowne last week. It's a beautiful property - the wedding was outside as well as cocktail hour. Very nice veranda overlooking some hills and golf course. Moved inside for the reception. Had a great time - the service and food were very good. There was a block of rooms for the wedding guests, however we decided to stay elsewhere as we needed 3 nights and the "special" rate of $160 ($190 after taxes, etc.) plus parking and $22 pp for breakfast just wasn't in our budget. If that is a special rate, wonder what the regular rate is? I guess you pay a lot to stay in a place that includes the name "resort". We are SO glad we booked elsewhere. All we heard the day after the wedding from other guests were not so rave reviews and even complaints about the rooms being small and very dark, beds uncomfortable, the lack of regular sized pillows and no fridge. We stayed at the Springhill Suites Ashburn Dulles, 5 minutes down the road. For less than $80 we had a beautiful, spacious, clean room, with fridge, microwave and coffee maker, great customer service the entire stay and free breakfast. I would highly recommend that folks booking a wedding at Lansdowne book your room block for guests at the Springhill Suites Ashburn Dulles. Check their reviews - there is one there from a bride and groom that did just that after Lansdowne did not do them right with the block they had there.

We were sent to Landsdowne by United Airlines after missed connections on a long trip home, so that wasn't the best start. The promised 20-minute pick up at the airport stretched to 35, made harder by a desperately tired 7-year old and the late hour. A friendly, efficient check-in would have been nice, esp since it was past midnight. No. The key-making machine didn't work, so we waited, beyond exhausted, as the employes discussed, tried this and that, disappeared, mumbled a few excuses, and finally, finally, agreed to have a clerk take us upstairs with a passkey. Why wasn't this offered earlier, especially since we had a child? I had to go down in the morning to get a key--it would have been nice if one had been brought up. The room was comfortable, clean, so forth. The wi-fi was free, but not as intuitive as that in equivalent hotels. Armed with a not-princely $7/each allowance from United, we went to breakfast. OK, hotel breakfasts are never economical, but the buffet was $21 and a la carte offerings also quite pricey. In the end, we had breakfast at the airport. Maybe the fault is United in choosing this property, but we wouldn't return if given a choice.

Green Features: They do the normal towel-saving. If there were other practices, they weren't evident.

My wife and I spent two nights at the resort as a getaway from our hectic lives in suburban Maryland outside of DC. We both thoroughly enjoyed massages, which were very relaxing. The spa was very nice. We also had two great rounds of golf. The resort has 2 18-hole championship courses and a beautiful executive course. The tennis facilities, fitness center, and pool all looked very nice although we didn't actually have time to utilize them on this visit. The bar had a pool table and shuffle board, which were an added bonus. The breakfast buffet was very nice, with a wide-selection of options. The staff were substantially more friendly than you typically find at a large hotel and conference facility. We were impressed by how well the facilities and grounds were maintained. We can't wait to come back with our children so that they can enjoy this beautiful property.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on an upper floor overlooking the golf courses. The views of the rolling hills, i...

I needed a quick getaway and found a special on livingsocial.com for this resort. When I arrived I wasn't disappointed. It is definitely beautiful with its rolling green manicured lawns and beautifully landscaped flower beds. Now comes my only critique. The hallway and room carpeting is a bit worn and I suspect a bit dirty too. (Sorry to Say)

The staff was very friendly and allowed me the opportunity to feel right at home from their greeting of "welcome home" at the front door, to the front desk staff that let me check in incredibly early (breakfast time), to the pool staff.

Is it "pricy"? YES! Get an online "special" if you can. Paying full price for even their great ambiance and customer service may not be worth breaking your budget and you'll need money left over to enjoy the touristy activities in the area.

Room Tip: After making a reservation for a standard room I received an email to upgrade my room view for as li...
