“Try Somewhere Else, you can do better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2005

This hotel is undergoing renovation. the room has been updated somewhat, nice bed, clean linens, newer chairs. the outside was being painted on our visit 8/26. The interior halls are horrid. Carpet is very worn and stained, hallways are dark and desperate need of painting. The wallpaper in the rooms could use updating as in the bathroom. The bathroom was ok, not horrible, but needed updating also. I realize this is a holiday inn, but for the rates they are charging, should be a bit nicer. The door to our room had a gap at the top so you could pass a magazine through the door from the room to the outside, humm, that's not good for soundproofing! the doors from the halls to the parking lot did not require a key to get in, which makes me nervous about anyone just walking in. There is also a stale smell in our room, not sure if its the airconditioner.

The bed was comfortable and the shower was decent with regards to water pressure. If you want to watch TV has expanded cable. Bring your laptop and wireless card for free internet access which is nice. But all the other stuff outweighs.

In summary, I regret staying here. I should have paid just a bit more money and stayed at a new hotel. While this one isn't the worst place I have been, its pretty run down. YOu can do alot better for your money.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! This place is a dump. It is infested with roaches the size of a 50 cent piece! We had to stay there for Pony Nationals in Sterling, VA. The housekeeping staff was rude and could not speak english. The carpets were disgusting, we had a non-smoking room that smelled like smoke. Leaky ceilings in the rooms. mold in the showers and the cleaning people did not know how to clean. Overall one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed at. Be warned there are many, many other hotels in the area. DO NOT STAY HERE!

My husband and I were in Leesburg last weekend for a wedding at River Creek Country Club. We chose this Holiday Inn from a list of available options. What a mistake! While the room itself was decent and reasonably clean, the service was abominable.

It started when we arrived. After checking in, we were instruced to go to entrance "B." We lugged all of our belongings down a long hallway and found our room--which was right next to entrance "A." When we put our room keys in the door, neither worked. So, off I went again--back to the front desk to have the keys fixed.

The following morning, we were eager to grab a quick continental breakfast at the Mansion House Restaurant. What a disaster! The place was PACKED with unhappy customers. I overheard bits and pieces from several parties--folks who had been waiting...and waiting... and waiting. Turns out there was only ONE young guy responsible for greeting, serving, and bussing the entire restaurant.

I grabbed a small box of Raisin Bran and a carton of milk from the continental table. Imagine my dismay when I took a bite--and the milk was RANCID. It was absolutely disgusting.

While checking out, I politely informed another young fellow that the restaurant was in disarray. I said it wasn't the fault of the employee running the "one-man band," and suggested that perhaps if the restaurant is short-staffed, they should simply keep it closed. The front-desk clerk seemed to think I was joking! He began to laugh at me, and once he realized that I was being quite serious, he merely looked down and avoided eye contact. There was no apology, no offer to have me speak to the manager, nothing! It was very disappointing.

We will NOT be returning to this Holiday Inn--or any other Holiday Inn, for that matter. So much for being part of their "Priority Club"!

This is a very nice hotel. Clean comfortable rooms, and also a great restaurant, the Mansion House, onsite. My friend and I stayed over a night for an outlet shopping trip and we could not have been more pleased with the accomodations. It was terrible weather so we stayed at the hotel to eat dinner and it was a pleasant surprise with good food and great service. Would definitely stay here again.

Well, let's see, my reservation for a manor suite was a screwup from the getgo...the room had indoor/outdoor carpet and was in dire need of a cleaning...numerous lights didn't work...

I booked this online with a great rate, which was only reason I chose this hotel.

However, that rate was denied when I originally checked in because the clerk didn't know how to enter an internet rate...the heat was nonexistent on a cold November Thanksgiving Eve...and bedding for the foldout was nowhere to be found; when it did arrive from housekeeping it was dirty.

The only solace was that breakfast was included and besides being overworked, the lady staffing breakfast was not too friendly.

After several minutes of arguing with the front desk manager at check out he produced the original rate I was given online.

I would no longer stay at this or any holiday inn, ever.

We stayed in this hotel because it was close to a local dog show where we were entered. It is a bit awkward to get there if you are traveling on 7 East because you have to pass the hotel and make a U-turn at the next red light. Once you get over the fear of doing that, it's not bad.
The decor was wonderful, the rooms were clean, and I greatly appreciated it being "pet friendly." The overall feeling is historic, sort of "country colonial" and is dominated by a hounds & hunting theme, which as a horse & hound lover, I found particularly appealing.
I especially enjoyed the extras, such as premium bath products and the Washington Post each morning. The beds were so darned comfy -- I almost opted out of our dog show! If I had to pick on anything, it would be the hotel's restaurant and tavern. It was chilly when we visited (November) and a nice fire was going just outside the restaurant. I had high hopes. I was wrong. Service in the restaurant was unbelievably slow and while the food wasn't too terribly pricey, the coffee was way overpriced ($3.50!!!). The waiters/waitresses weren't particularly friendly either. When the food came, though, it was very good. It is served in an old mansion and the atmosphere is very nice. As for the tavern, it wasn't too terribly overpriced and while service was faster, it was no friendlier. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel.
I've stayed a lot of places and I can honestly say that despite its relatively reasonable rate, it is in my list of top 5. I would probably give the restaurant another try, but if there's no change, I'd drive out in the mornings for breakfast. It would be a lot faster than waiting for service.
