“Oatlands Candlelight Christmas Tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

I've lived in Leesburg since 1999 and just went on the candlelight Christmas Tour last December (2012). First of all, you have to like history, but even if you don't, it is a beautiful house and very well decorated. They have a different theme, apparently, every year. The tour guides (young and old) are very knowledgeable of the house and its history, especially about the family that lived there. When I arrived at the carriage house (where you buy tickets/gift shop), they had hot cider and cookies available. The house is a short walk (uphill) from the carriage house.

Well worth the time and money, but not conducive to the physically handicapped due to the stairs. The entire tour took a little over an hour, but you could spend longer if you wanted. The grounds are lovely and I vowed to go back in the springtime this year, but didn't make it.

“Beautiful Anntibellum Plantation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Beautiful in any season, spring brings the flowers and Christmas is special with the decorations for the season. There are many special events held here but the Home is histroicaly significant and worth the visit if you are in the area. I can easiely be part of a day of wineries and history tours. I live very near here and I always bring visitors.

“A visit to the Past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

If you're a history buff, this is tour for you. Only the most beautifully maintained mansions in the Leesburg area and the gardens are well manicured. The rolling hillside and the mountains off in the distance are a picturesque setting for this old plantation. A nice stop along the way.

“Beautiful old mansion.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

This is not a huge plantation with outbuildings, but the house is lovely. The tours are well done and the gardens are beautiful. Beware during the summer...it gets hot!

“A rich plantation experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

This post-Revolution mansion, with its delightful lgardens and rolling fields, is a jewel in the crown of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Its recently-restored greenhouse is one of the oldest in North America. Oatlands has lots to interest every visitor, from toddlers to seniors.
