“Lives up to its reviews...and then some!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

My wife and I spent Valentine's Day and night at Glen Gordon Manor. I have to confess that I was somewhat skeptical of the unanimous 5 ratings on Trip Advisor. We left wishing that Trip Advisor had higher ratings than 5! If any place deserves one, it's Glen Gordon Manor.

The owners were away on vacation during our visit, so it fell to their nephew Trent to take care of us, and he did so without missing a beat. Not only did he provide us with a delectable dinner and breakfast, he also regaled us with great stories and insights regarding the restaurant business and high-end cuisine.

For our dinner, Trent prepared (perfectly): an appetizer of quail with mustard sauce; a silky parsnip soup; beet and goat cheese salad with candied walnuts; roasted breast of duck; and a dessert of miniature creme brulee and a brandade of berries in a paper-thin crispy shell. These were accompanied by perfectly matched wines, as well as expert commentary from the chef/maitre d'/server.

After a great night's sleep in the luxurious Windsor Suite, we were treated to a breakfast of a poached egg in the best hollandaise sauce we've ever had, accompanied by confit of duck, asparagus, and corn pancakes. On the side was the lightest, tastiest pumpkin bread we've ever had.

After breakfast we encountered Trent again during our walk of the grounds---he was outside tending to the horses---and he took us over to the little hen house, where he gathered up a dozen freshly laid eggs for us to take home. It's niceties such as this that separate this place from the rest.

This was our first visit to Glen Gordon, but it definitely won't be our last. And we'll be bringing friends and/or family with us!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are top notch. The ones in the main house are smaller, but have the benefit of offe...

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

My husband surprised me with a stay for my 50th birthday. Our room (in the cottage) was immaculate and sumptuous. We loved the music piped through the room and bath. A big, deep soaking tub overlooking the horse pasture was the perfect spot to share some champagne.

Breakfast was such a treat! It really is so decadent to have such as accomplished chef create such a delicious meal. The hollandaise was light as air (so therefore it doesn't have any calories). Enjoyed learning about the house from Nancy and Dayn. Next time, we would plan to have dinner at the house.

“The second time was better than the first!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My wife and I stayed here this past May, and couldn't have been more pleased. After going back we felt like we were visiting old friends. Not only did Dayn, Nancy, and Trent make us feel at home, they outdid themselves with the meals they prepared. We have stayed at many 5 star resorts, yet none can compare to the service, food, and geniuine hospitality they afforded us. We stayed in the Wakefield Suite in May and the Windsor Suite this time and would recommend staying in either. We are planning to return this Spring and stay the entire weekend. You wont find a better B&B!

Room Tip: Either room in the Glencroft cottage, pick the Windsor if you like soaking tubs with a great view.

“A magically unforgettable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

We cannot say enough about the wonderful place that Glen Gordon Manor is. It was a perfect weekend from start to finish and the most amazing place for a romantic getaway. The hospitality, impeccable cuisine, and casual elegance made it one of the best - maybe THE best - experiences we've had. We've been to quite a few inns and bed and breakfasts, and this has everything we love and nothing we don't. The accomodations are cozy and clean with plenty of open and shared spaces throughout the house, though it's still very private. The surroundings are so beautiful it's hard to put into words, and the food was by far some of the best we've tasted anywhere.

Room Tip: The two rooms in the house are great because you feel as if you ahve your run of the entire house, b...

“An outstanding country inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

As veterans of Virginia B&B's, we've experienced the best (and unfortunately the worst) offered around the state. I can say that the Glen Gordon Manor was one of the best experiences we've ever had at a country inn/B&B.

The manor itself is warm and cozy, and you feel pampered the minute you walk in the front door. Trent provided a quick but helpful tour, then immediately filled our wine glass. As we booked last minute, we were not able to have dinner, but Dayn did allow us to watch dinner being prepared in the kitchen, and let us try some gourmet spanish ham that was to die for (while filling our wine glasses again, of course).

We stayed in the Briargate room, which was nicely decorated and very comfortable for two. Breakfast the next morning was delightful (the coffee was especially yummy), a true feast for the foodie.

Dayn, Nancy and Trent were wonderful hosts and their obvious love for what they do comes through in almost every facet of your stay. Glen Gordon Manor is just a wonderful place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in the area.
