After over a decade of hearing about the grand hotel Homestead and how it was a place for Presidents and dignitaries; I had high hopes which were drowned out by the inattention to detail, the lack of service, the lack of training of the dining staff, the lack of menu choices and the horrible food, not to be outdone by the outrageous prices they charge for substandard service and food. I was horribly disappointed by the frozen apple pie that they actually served FROZEN with a straight face. The pie had ice in it and could not be cut with a fork. I was forced to eat french fries twice for a meal as they had no choices for vegetarians on their menu. The menus were so limited that you could either order lettuce or ask for fries until the next meal of 5 raviolis. I felt deceived by the advertising, thinking I was going to get a grand experience and all I got was a nighmare. Even the hot springs pool at the spa was slimy, slippery and dangerous with algea and other green fuzzy things floating in the water. I had to get out immediately to wash off in the hot tub and pool. There is no food served at the spa, so if you plan to spend your day there, plan to dry off, get dressed again, walk across the lawn to the closest restaurant, then come back to the spa. They don't even bring food to the spa so you can enjoy the only kid-free zone in the entire resort. The wait staff is completely untrained in the art of high-star service - they are hillbillys who don't know how to serve. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! It may have been nice 200 years ago and the architecture is grand, but everything else is grand disaster!
