“The Homestead is a NIGHTMARE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

After over a decade of hearing about the grand hotel Homestead and how it was a place for Presidents and dignitaries; I had high hopes which were drowned out by the inattention to detail, the lack of service, the lack of training of the dining staff, the lack of menu choices and the horrible food, not to be outdone by the outrageous prices they charge for substandard service and food. I was horribly disappointed by the frozen apple pie that they actually served FROZEN with a straight face. The pie had ice in it and could not be cut with a fork. I was forced to eat french fries twice for a meal as they had no choices for vegetarians on their menu. The menus were so limited that you could either order lettuce or ask for fries until the next meal of 5 raviolis. I felt deceived by the advertising, thinking I was going to get a grand experience and all I got was a nighmare. Even the hot springs pool at the spa was slimy, slippery and dangerous with algea and other green fuzzy things floating in the water. I had to get out immediately to wash off in the hot tub and pool. There is no food served at the spa, so if you plan to spend your day there, plan to dry off, get dressed again, walk across the lawn to the closest restaurant, then come back to the spa. They don't even bring food to the spa so you can enjoy the only kid-free zone in the entire resort. The wait staff is completely untrained in the art of high-star service - they are hillbillys who don't know how to serve. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! It may have been nice 200 years ago and the architecture is grand, but everything else is grand disaster!

We had a wonderful stay at the Homestead and will be back. Since the Omni took over the food has improved, pools are great and Jefferson dining and bar area is great addition. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Setting is lovely.

Very unclean and a lot of things not working from room to restaurants to game room to activities. Hotel rooms are leaking air conditioning units, mildew smells, water pressure is bad, no room in the bathrooms, really old and not kept up in maintenance. Game room games broken and never fixed and the kiosk for the game cards were broke the entire time we were there and never fixed. Pool Cabana were filthy and never cleaned. The shuttles were never on time and had to wait a long time and even had to cancel one of our activities because of it.

A beautiful place - reasonably priced, but it is an all-inclusive resort like Disney. That means golf, spa, shopping and meals are extra, so it's not cheap. I had the "bed-and-breakfast" option, which ended up over $300 for one night, without the extras. The scenery in Bath County is spectacular, but there is not much to do outside the hotel. It's a special trip to go to this hotel.I recommend it if you like to hang out in a beautiful place and you have time and money to just relax.

We were looking forward to a wonderful weekend at this beautiful country resort and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is friendly and efficient, the activities are wonderful and staffed by experienced associates and the food is excellent. We're looking forward to returning to the Homestead!

Pictures just cannot do justice to this stately mountain retreat. The hotel staff are more than willing to go the extra mile to make your stay a very pleasurable experience. If you need time to relax and forget there is a crazy world out there, then this is the place.

The Omni Homestead was amazing! I did the Gorge Hike, Segway Tour, Horseback Riding and the Spa. The history behind the Jefferson Pool was fascinating and they kept the place intact beautifully. I traveled solo and had the best time! so relaxing and the food was great. Everyone made you feel welcome and wanted to make sure you had a great time.
