“Great Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2014

I stayed at the Homestead for a conference. This was my second time, and the quality of stay is outstanding. I highly recommend the Jefferson Lounge for drinks. The staff is incredibly helpful, and always ready with a smile. Even the cleaning staff greeted me with a smile and hello every morning - not something you see at many hotels. Unfortunately, I never have time to enjoy all the amenities but the recent renovations to the spa are heavenly!

Beautiful place, rich in history. My wife enjoyed the SPA. It rained the 3 days while we were there for a conference so couldn't experience any of the outdoor opportunities. Staff is exceptional in all facets and extremely warm and friendly.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this historic hotel on three occassions. Each employee understands and embraces customer service, the rooms are comfortable and clean; and the food and wine selection is outstanding. Besides the main dining room, a must "go to" resturant is Sam Snead's. Wonderful atmosphere and the food was amazing. Hotel staff are informative and ensure you have a wonderful experience.

I love the Homestead. We go there every year for the Virginia Trail Riders competitive trail ride. It is a wonderful hotel filled to the brim with history, immaculate grounds, excellent service, wonderful beds, beautiful spa and enough outdoor activities to keep anyone wholesomely entertained for weeks. Oh, and the food is DELICIOUS!

Room Tip: The tower suite rooms are beautiful!

This resort is very large and has many amenities and activities.
Be aware the $55 per day resort charge covers WIFI and only one of the outside pools. The other outside pool and hot spring is an additional charge per person, per day ($55).
When booking a room at the Homestead, ask about fees for amenities and specific activities, as charges can quickly add up.

The new spa is beautiful with a full line of services. The grounds are vast and lovely. Ample restaurants with diverse menus, good food, good service. The rooms, although renovated do need some improvement. The HVAC system is noisy. The baths have marble floors and plantation shutters, but not high end fixtures.

The interior corridors can be confusing, elevators are small, however, there are many stair cases to use. Just know, this is an old historic property, not a new 5 star resort.

Service was excellent and would stay here again. Air condition made noise so it was hard to get to sleep. Room was clean overall, a few sunflower seeds left on floor. All in all it was a great place to stay. Wonderful golf courses.
