“Will return this time next year”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

I received a Christmas gift card and decided to use in March "On a Whim" package for 2 nights. Hubby has visited property many times growing up but this was our first visit as Omni. I was expecting a smaller room due to our somewhat last-minute booking and using this bare bones package but we were in 1486 - spacious room with king size bed and balcony with chaise and table/four chairs and a definite slope in one portion of the floor. We had turndown service with chocolates the first night but no chocolates the second (you spoiled us). All service staff that we encountered were friendly and efficient - especially the front desk and spa teams. We ate both dinners in the Jefferson Bar. The ambience, views and portions were perfect for us. The afternoon tea (choice of green or black tea, small sandwiches and sweet nibbles) was terrific, especially sitting in front of one of the fireplaces. After tea, we grabbed a scoop of ice cream from Martha's Marketplace sitting in a rocker on the front porch. Be aware the property is large and hilly and during your hotel exploring, there were a few areas blocked due to repairs. We did not take the time to relax in any of the many nooks and crannies of comfy chairs and quiet areas located throughout. We did the 10am history tour, quite worthwhile if you have even a minor interest in this property and the surrounding area (two hours). We only used the gym, the spa garden and the aqua thermal suite but will expand our activities next visit. I do have two negative observations. One is the quality of the movie theater film. The one movie we saw was Oz, The Great and Powerful. We arrived at the 7pm start only to find the movie was half finished (not a biggie) but the film quality was very faded with no vibrant Oz colors. The other observation are the older areas of the hotel that should probably be blocked off - I'm thinking of the walkway going from the Casino lawn to Cottage Row. It's short but creepy and only seemed to lead to outside service areas without direction. We drove past the ski slope as we were leaving - I recall ice skating up here on their very large ice rink many years ago - and the few people there seemed to have the placed all their own. Visit this hotel soon and make your own historic memories.

We were delighted to welcome you to The Homestead in March. It is good to know you had an enjoyable visit and plan to return at the same time next year. We do apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the movie in our theater and have taken corrective action by replacing the movie in question and implementing a quality control program on movies being shown in the future. We thank you for your other observations and suggestions as they are very helpful to us. If I may be of assistance to you with your reservation for next year, please feel free to contact me directly at 540-839-7570. We are looking forward to seeing you again.

We stayed at the Homestead for spring break. The hotel was only 20 percent full...so that added a lot to our visit. Nothing was crowded. No lines at the ski life. Had the skating rink to ourselves. The staff was very very friendly and helpful. Room very quiet and clean. Only improvement could be the food. Some meals were quite good but others quite average. The breakfast buffet was the best dining we had.

Room Tip: If they are not full, ask for an upgrade!

The Homestead was a wonderful place to relax and pamper yourself at their amazing spa resort. Beautiful hotel, bright and clean rooms. Comfortable beds. But the best part, was the Fantastic Spa and heated indoor pool. Indulge yourself. You're worth it and so is The Homestead!

Now eight years in a row with a GREAT family experience at the Homestead. It's great each year to see the same fantastic staff and enjoy the hospitality and amenities of this stately hotel. Dinner at Sam Sneads Tavern is always a highlight of our trip. My children learned to ski here many years ago and we just can't resist coming back.

The Jefferson Pools are a real treat. It was an authentic and unique experience. We drove down about four hours to escape DC, and it was a beautiful drive. The food in the Casino Restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced, and the other restaurants looked quite good too. Only wish that the building could have been a bit cooler -- it was difficult to reach the ideal temperature.

Very nice hotel! Stayed for business here annually for past 11 years! Overall service has improved over the last 2 years. Wonderful staff, great food, and overall stay! Hotel is resort styling and has great amenities. I have been unable to use or participate with many of the amenities but overall offerings, appearance and availability are of nice quality.

We had a wonderful vacation here. I would highly recommend the Homestead. The staff is warm and helpful, and the property is amazing. Don't miss the spa, and we also went skiing and did the outdoor and indoor pools...all of which were great. My family will return here.
