“Great Hotel, Under new management”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2007

Very friendly staff. Accommodations were above average. Pool was very
clean as was the hot tub, which was a great unwinder after a long motorcycle trip. We stayed there for 2 nights and found the staff very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast buffet was as good as any we
had at Comfort Inns. At this one, the hotel manager was there to actually pitch in and help the staff when it got busy. Don't worry about not being able to find a seat for breakfast, they open the adjoining dining area so that there is no waiting for a seat. Housekeeping is right on the ball and does a great job. Will not hesitate to book this one again.

We'd booked the hotel in advance for an overnight stop whilst driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. What excellent value!

The room was only $75 plus tax and included breakfast. Free internet access was available on a computer in the lobby and free coffee and cookies were always available.

It's located in one of those little clusters of hotels, and so on, that you get at Interstate exits and there are not many immediate opportunities for dinner. There's a Shoney's and a Countryside Restaurant. We chose the latter. What a mistake! By far, this was the most horrible food in the whole of our 3 week trip to the States. Simply vile!

We didnt have the free breakfast but drove into town to the Hillsville Diner. We'd heard this was a genuine old railway carriage diner (and so it was). Great breakfast - have the hotcakes.

My husband and I were on the Blue Ridge Parkway and had phoned ahead at a privately owned hotel. Long story short, we got there, waited for the owners for two hours, ended up with no room at 10:00 pm. I checked my tom-tom for the nearest hotels and got a list approximately 20 minutes away in Hillsville. I selected the Fairfield Inn because we've had good luck with Fairfield previously. We followed directions and ended up at the Comfort Inn East and was told it had previously been a Fairfield. The desk clerk was very nice and professional, there was some fruit and coffee still in the lobby (we had missed dinner) so that was a good thing. The room was very big, bathroom very big, (king-size) bed and pillows were so comfortable, the room was clean, bathroom clean. I was very pleased (and very tired)! The breakfast next morning was good, crowded, and there was an attendant there (I didn't get her name) that was one of the sweetest, patient, and nicest lady I've ever met and with such a crowd, she always had a smile on her face. What a great place to stay!

We stopped at this hotel for an overnight stop on our way home from the beach. No reservation, no knowledge of what to expect, we were just tired and needed a place to stay! Well, this was more than just a stop over...we were welcomed to a bright, beautiful lobby with smiling faces at the front desk and plenty of cookies, banana bread, coffee and tea for a late night snack. The room was quite large (I thought) with 2 queen beds that were made with light weight quilts and fluffy pillows. The room was quiet and our whole family got a great night's sleep. The next morning, breakfast was PACKED, and I know why...it was a top notch buffet. Biscuits and gravy, eggs, waffles, ham, cheese, a variety of breakfast breads for toasting, cereal, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, etc. The minute the gravy (or eggs, or coffee) got the slightest bit empty, a new pot was brought in by the one of the THREE breakfast attendants. The hotel opened a banquet room for additional seating for breakfast, and they needed it! I was so sorry that we did not have more time to stay at this hotel...as my 5 year old daughter put it...they put the "comfort" in Comfort Inn!!!! We will definitely be back, and our family members who are headed to the beach next month have already made their reservations!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on August 9, 2007 and were soooo pleased. Impeccably clean, courteous and helpful staff, elevators and luggage carts readily available. If you don't have laptop for in-room internet, a computer with printer is available in the lobby. The complimentary breakfast is one of the best....including biscuit and hot gravy, eggs and ham, make your own griddle cakes, variety of dry cereals, pastries and beverages. Easy on/off interstate, Wonderful experience!!
