“Nice new hotel, very helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2010

I booked via a blind site, and was very happy with their choice. The hotel is spotless, the room was in fact a mini-suite, the staff was friendly and efficient. When I asked how to go to the Air and Space museum extension near Dulles airport, they sent me on the shuttle, and told me to call back when I needed a ride back. Impressive service! Nice breakfast too.

This is not the best hotel where you want to be over night, This is more apartman building, there is not restourant I arrived with family with 3 kids, hungry ...... no restourants in area. Shutlly DOESN'T run 24 hours like thay have on webside. DON"T stay there if you dont bring food and drink with you.

I travelled to DC with my family...wife and 5 kids. This was an excellent hotel. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was very professional and friendly. I was impressed by the night manager Josue - he was a true professional and a very nice person - he made sure we were having a great time. I give this hotel very high marks.
But, if you are a tourist wanting to go see the sights of DC then this hotel is not for you. That was my experience and it really is not a knock on the hotel itself. This hotel is excellent for the overnight traveller or the business traveller (plenty of Fortune 500 companies nearby).
This is not a tourist hotel.
To get to DC you first have to ride their shuttle to the airport. Then get on MetroBus and that will take you to DC. Time for this is about 1.5 hours. MetroBus cost is $6 per person one way. So, in my case, we had to pay $84 round trip to get to DC and back. We did that for 3 days! There is plenty to see in DC!
For a tourist that has a family of 4, if this hotel is $120 a night then it would be the same as paying $168 for a hotel in the DC area, walking distance from the major sites. You don't need to spend 3 hours of your day in trips to/from DC.
This hotel is catered for the business traveller or overnight traveller. If they really want to attract the tourist industry I would recommend that Hyatt would implement a complimentary shuttle straight to DC -L'Enfant plaza - the central part of DC. One or two trips in the morning with evening pick up times. This would eliminate the costs of using MetroBus and cut the travel time in half. Hyatt Place can hook up with nearby hotels like the Sheraton and the other Hyatt hotels nearby to share in the costs of this shuttle. This is the only way that it can offer its services to the tourist.

First of all, there is another Hyatt that is close by that apparently is getting poor reviews. This hotel was great. The only complaint that I had was that the pool hours that were posted on the website were incorrect, but the front desk was more than courteous in explaining why (apparently the state of Virginia just passed a law stating that all pools must have a lifeguard at them while open. The company that supplies the lifeguards apparently was ill-staffed or did not supply the company with two guards for the Shearton and Hyatt Place. Just make sure to check with the front desk to see which pool is open that day and what the hours are). The front staff also helped in stopping noise from outside, and was eager to help.

The rooms were not what I would call large, but they were designed with comfort in mind. They have a fridge, but no microwave. There is only a shower, but it has a huge head in it. The bed was extremely comfortable, and there was an HD tv that was on a swivel in between the bed and living area. The couch was comfortable, and the internet was relatively fast.

The shuttle was nice to go to Dulles as well. They will take you to the Smithsonian Museum, but you may have to be patient when they come to pick you up. It can take some time because of other stops, but it gives you ample time to see anything you may have missed at the museum.

Finally, the area is developing. There is not a lot of restaurants, but there is a pizza place called Generous George's that is around the corner. It was well worth the 3 minute drive.

room was big and clean and service was excellent. Although hot breakfast was not served, they had quite a huge selection of other food. Shuttle service was extremely useful and I would definitely recommend this place to others travelling through washington dulles airport.
