We had the opportunity to stay at The Village Inn on our way back home from up north and made a last minute call to the hotel and they had a nice room waiting for us when we arrived. We have stayed here before and enjoy the old fashioned mom & pop feel of the place. Not many of these simple, clean motels left around so it is a pleasant change from the chains. Hotel is right off of I-81 but sits in the middle of farmland and so it is peaceful and the little decks off many rooms have nice quiet views. Our room was very large with 2 queen beds and a sofa and a large bathroom. Very clean...very simple. Our room was on the front of the hotel facing the road and next time we would ask not to be on the road side since cars did zoom by all night. The restaurant was closed, so our only choice for food was a fast food place up the road.
We stay at hotels approx. 7-10 nights a month and usually stay at Hamptons, & Courtyards and we are VERY picky about cleanliness, decor and feel of a place. The Village Inn does a good job with all of this. We love the change of pace that The Village Inn offers and at about $70. for 2 Queens, the price can't be beat. In the summer the pool and shuffleboard and other games make it a great experience for kids. Will certainly stay here again when in the neighborhhod.

This place was perfect for a one night stay right off of the Interstate 81 on our way to Millboro, VA. It is at exit 240 in Harrisonburg VA. The place is described as one of the first Motor Courts in the East but has been updated and modernized w/o losing its charm! The room was extremely clean and comfortable. However, the bed was a bit lumpy and hard! There is a comfy loveseat and TV. The bathroom had a whirlpool tub with a heating lamp overhead. Very very clean! The view was not as described in the brochure but that was ok since we were only there to sleep. There is a restaurant attached which serves a limited menu for dinner. However, their breakfast buffet was the freshest and most delicious I have tasted in a long time! The hospitality was great too! The pool was not really ready since it was only early May but it looked like it would be great in the summer. All in all, the room was reasonably priced, comfortable and clean! We were hesitant because they are listed as "pet friendly" and our last experience with a pet friendly lodging was intolerable!!! But not here!

My husband and I travel quite a lot since we live in different states and we like to take time to meet halfway every so often. Since we usually book online we never know what we're going to get. Well we were pleasantly surprised, we liked the idea that it was outside of town yet close enough to enjoy Harrisonburg's offereings.
The room was spacious, clean, it had a microwave, mini-fidge, whirlpool bath and a deck. We were able to walk over to the restaurant and enjoy the great breakfast buffet.
We figured since breakfast was so good dinner would be good too. This is where we were wrong. The service was not good though the waitresses were pleasant. I had to ask for rolls which had been warmed up in the microwave. My husband's meal was not hot enough. Skip the restaurant for dinner and go into Harrisonburg.
I have to give special props to Eric Miller who works at the desk at night and waits tables during the morning. He was very efficient and easy to deal with and I like the fact that he had been there for six years. It showed that there was loyalty among their workers.
I wish we had taken advantage of the amenities like the shuffleboard, putting green and outdoor Jacquzzi.
I would highly recommend this motel. And don't forget to read the history of the Inn when you get there. It is a really cool story.

I brought a middle school group for the "We the People" state finals competition at JMU. We had 19 students, 5 adults, and 13 rooms. Kevin was very accomodating and gracious throughout the process of setting up the reservation. The hotel rooms were very clean and I had absolutely no complaints from any of my students. Despite my students' age, they loved the playground on the property. Finally, the breakfast buffet was excellent, largely because of the friendly service by the staff. My students (and most of us) are used to the normal indifference of service people in the big city. Service was exceptional and several of my students remarked about the friendliness of the wait staff. I even had one student who asked me to explain the norms for tipping because he wanted to make sure that he had left an appropriate-sized gratuity. He was very impressed with the service. I should add that the price matched the large group price that the Center arranged from one of the national chain hotels.

We stayed at the Village Inn twice; down and back on a trip to NC from NJ. The people are friendly, the rooms are very clean and large, and it's PERFECT for people like us traveling with two dogs. You can park right in front of your room to unpack, and dog walking is easy. Since we didn't feel comfortable leaving the dogs in our room while we ate in the restaurant, they let us order food and brought it to our room. It's just one of those comfortable places where you have everything you need!
