“A Hotel I Would Return Too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Returning from a wedding in upstate NY, we reserved a room in Harrisonburg, VA to spend to evening. We were very tired from the drive and didn't know what to expect when we arrived. What a pleasant surprise when we arrive at the front desk.....the staff was very friendly, professional, and very accomodating. The room was very large, clean and had a sauna tub which I enjoyed. The staff also recommended a great restaurant which we enjoyed for dinner. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the hotel. Family friendly!! If you're in this area, stay at The Village Inn, you will not be disappointed.

“Nice non-chain motor court”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

We stayed one night based on reviews in Trip Advisor. It was clean and the type of old style motor court you'd expect in a small town. The only complaint is the breakfast menu. My husband went to the dining room and had a small helping of scrambled eggs, coffee and a muffin. When he was done, he was handed a bill for $11. When he questioned the bill, he was told the breakfast was a buffet and there was only one price. He felt that there should have been a sign posted when you entered the dining room stating breakfast was a buffet priced at $9.95/person + the cost of coffee. So, other than feeling ripped off at breakfast, the Village Inn is a clean, quiet motel close to the highway. Nothing special but you won't be disappointed.

“We love staying here...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

We always spend a night at The Village Inn on our way south in late October. I love the feel of it, it reminds me of motels we stayed in as kids. It's super-clean, the beds have just been revamped and are very comfortable. We had no problems getting internet access on our laptop or our IPhones. The new TV worked beautifully. We have a pet and the room we had is identical to any of the rooms. In other so called 'pet-friendly' hotels you are relegated to some stinking 4th floor room in the 'dog-wing'. They have a very good breakfast buffet in the attached restaurant for a paltry $6.95. We'll be back again next year. Wouldn't stay anywhere but...

“Big disappointment.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012 via mobile

The rooms are small, the hot tub dirty. The Hotwire website said it was 3 star and comparable to a Wyndham, Hampton, or Holiday Inn. It didn't come close in any way. I could never recommend this place...it is a motor inn that offered nothing. When I unwrapped the soap, it crumbled. No place to put luggage except the middle of the floor, etc.

“Good home cooking for a great price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

This was the second year we stopped at the Thomas House Restaurant, and this visit was just as memorable as the first. We stopped for lunch before hitting the Green Valley Book Fair, and the buffet was just as tasty as it was last fall. Be forewarned, at lunch, the buffet is the only choice, no menu items, but they have a tasty and fresh salad bar and delicious soups in addition to the main courses. The day we were there, they had fried chicken, chicken pot pie, and hamburger steak in gravy. The vegetables included cabbage, scalloped potatoes (delicious!), collards, green beans, and sweet potatoes. Dessert is included in the price of the buffet, and my mom had pecan custard pie, and I had chocolate meringue. They had several other choices, as well as an array of cookies. The vegetable soup was wonderful, chock-full of vegetables and a flavorful broth. All of this for $6.99. Of course, a soft drink cost over $2.00. Every year when my mom and I visit Harrisonburg for our fall trek to the book fair and Skyline Drive, this place will be on our agenda! There is parking in the back!
