“Awesome Magnolia House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2008

We have stayed at plenty of hotels, but nothing compares to the awesome care and service we had at the Magnolia House. This was me and my husband first anniversary and The Blair Family really made us feel right at home. The care was just so personally and relaxing. The food was awesome and the Ellington suite in which we stayed words just can not describe. Sleeping in that bed was the best night sleep that we have had in a while and the hot tub was so relaxing. We are actually from the area but the stay made us feel that we were out of town and we didn't want to leave. Please everyone try it for yourself and get the enjoyable and memorable experiences that we had. We love you Mr. and Mrs. Blair

This was an excellent B&B! My girlfriend and I went to Magnolia House for the weekend of Valentine's day and they had the most delicious Valentine's day dinner complete with champagne and chocolate. The following days were just as fantastic with gourmet breakfasts and very cozy common areas. The innkeepers were kind, generous, and helpful. They made the stay extremely memorable. I would heartily suggest this to anyone looking for a great B&B

We enjoyed our night at Magnolia House Bed & Breakfast very much. We were treated very well. There were many extra touches that we have never had at a bed & breakfast before. They went out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast was delicious and we never felt rushed to leave. I would recommend this bed & breakfast to anyone.

We spent 4 nights at the Magnolia House Bed & Breakfast. It has been a highlight of our vacation.

The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The breakfasts were wonderful. The hosts made us feel very welcome and were most obliging - willing to help in whatever way they could.

Our room was very comfortable. The bed was the best one we have slept in during our 5 weeks in the USA.

We have just returned to the UK after a two-week stay at The Magnolia House in Hampton, Virginia. We were visiting Hampton for a family reunion and were looking for accommodation that would give us personal service and a taste of Virginian lifestyle. Although there were plenty of hotels/motels locally, a bed and breakfast seemed to be the ideal solution to our needs. Nothing could have prepared us for the fantastic experience that was to come. The Innkeepers of Magnolia House, Joyce and Lankford Blair, gave us the holiday of a lifetime. Magnolia House is a beautiful old house that has been sympathetically restored by the owners to the very highest standard. There are only three bedrooms but what bedrooms! Our room, The Haven, was sumptuously furnished and was spotlessly clean. The en-suite offered everything we could possibly need, including toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer and an abundance of towels. The bedroom had two very comfortable easy chairs, magazines, a CD player with a selection of very good CD’s, air conditioning, the list is endless. The house is beautifully furnished with period furniture and all areas are open to guests at any time of day or night. Joyce and Lankford’s taste is impeccable.

To call this establishment a bed and breakfast is a great disservice. Breakfast is a gourmet feast and Joyce ensured we sampled a wide range of Virginian dishes during our stay including the most delicious muffins, coddled eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, flounder……. Every day there was another surprise, chocolates on our pillows, home-baked cookies in our room, Mimosas before breakfast, homemade lemonade served to our family on the veranda, the list is endless. The hosts have provided a guest’s pantry generously stocked with a range of cold and hot drinks, snacks, wine etc at no extra cost. However, the absolute highlight of our stay was the morning of my husband’s birthday. We went downstairs for breakfast and were greeted by the sound of someone tinkling on the piano. To our astonishment, our hosts had arranged for a pianist and vocalist to entertain us with two hours of live jazz over breakfast. Breakfast was brought to a close with the arrival of a slice of birthday cake complete with candle. I sincerely hope my husband wishes for a return visit to Magnolia House when he extinguished the flame! My everlasting memory will be of Lankford shimmying down the hall carrying a tray of Mimosas! Joyce and Lankford Blair’s warmth and hospitality was memorable and they are a credit to their profession.

We (2 couples, related) went to Hampton, VA for our first Parent's Weekend at Hampton University. We were exhausted, and while the men installed a new computer for the freshman, the girls went to check into Magnolia House. The home is a jewel, and without the stuffy feel of a living museum; we immediately felt welcome and relaxed as if we were home. After a tour of the home, we went to our beautiful rooms. They are tastefully decorated, and terry robes and slippers for your use during your stay is a nice touch that also emphasizes that you are at home, get comfortable! We went to sit on the magnificent porch and enjoy the afternoon sunshine, and after several glasses of wine, delicious (and unexpected!) appetizers from Joyce, we had the most perfect afernoon, talking and laughing, just enjoying our surroundings (the neighbors later told Joyce that her guests were really enjoying themselves, and we were!). After a wonderful dinner at a restaurant recommended by Joyce, we retired to our bedrooms. My husband and I had the best rest ever, better than at home! Joyce cooked a wonderful breakfast which took into account special dietary needs. We truly felt like beloved family. Happily, we need to return to Hampton over the next 4 years, and we intend to stay with Joyce and Lankford whenever we come here. The other couple, who had never had a B&B experience, also plan on staying at Magnolia House when they next visit the Williamsburgh area. It truly is the best!

We spent our 11th wedding anniversary as guests at the Magnolia House Bed & Breakfast in Hampton, Virginia. What an EXCELLENT choice! We were greeted with beautiful surrounding....each area was incredibly, tastefully decorated...so very beautiful but very personable. The owners are the nicest people anyone would ever want to meet. They made us feel very special and cared for. We had so many nice, unexpected surprises. When we first got to our room, there was a "Happy Anniversary" card. We were served champagne and delicious cake in the evening. Then when we got back to the room, we found another bottle of champagne on ice, glasses, and chocolates. We had the best time. Everything that we needed (and more) was provided. A full breakfast was served. It was delicious! There is really no way to tell it...just go and see for yourself. The surroundings and the service is unmatched. We highly recommend the Magnolia House in Hampton, Virginia.
