“Comfortable Magnificance!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2011

With Washington, DC Restaurant reviews always seeming to lean towards the next best and latest trend, it's a comfort to know that L'Auberge Chez Francois remains tried and true to what makes it a wonderful experience.

While the trek there last night was sleety/snowy, the comfort of the fireplace warmth in our chosen dining room was magical. Very similar to actually being in the Alsacian region of France, we literally felt transported for the evening. The wait staff were outstanding and attentive, and the food was comfort food of the highest echelon.

I'm not sure why L'Auberge doesn't make the Top 10 Restaurants in the Metro area these days, and that's a disservice to them. For a restaurant to maintain it's caliber of great service and wonderful food for many years should put them in a league all of their own, as some of the newer "Top 10" restaurants will be here, FLASH and POP the senses, and be gone before you know it. Perhaps L'Auberge doesn't "experiment" with new flavors, nor "step-it-up" with fanciful additions to their menu in keeping with the pressures of making its mark in the rated fine dining in the Metro area scheme of things, but why should they when they already have it DOWN on what good food and attention to detail is all about?

For our special Anniversary occasion, L'Auberge's ambiance has not changed and the comfort and familiarity of great food from a vist years past was still there. It continues to be magnifique and a treasure to Metro DC. We won't stay away so long next time!

“Always the Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2011

We dine at Chez Francois on special occasions once or twice a year. It is truly special and something we look forward to long in advance. The setting is lovely - a genuine country inn. The service is always impeccable, and I've never been disappointed by anything I put in my mouth. The meal is always nice and leisurely with lots of menu options, and the extra surprises from the kitchen are always a nice touch!

“Incredible birthday dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2011

A reliably excellent restaurant for celebration dinner. Traffic to country location has gotten horrible, so allow lots of extra time on a week night for the drive from the beltway. Service was professional and friendly. Our waiter had worked there 20 years and it showed. The bouillabaise appetizer was delicious as was my Dover sole. We usually share one dessert souffle (extra $) and another dessert. Our plum tart was magnificent. It's expensive, but when you want to splurge, totally worth it.

“Save airfare...dine in a real French restaurant in the US”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2011

One of the finest restaurant experiences I've ever had. The food is exquisite. The service is beyond superb. The atmosphere is relaxing, hospitable and charming. Better thn any French cuisine I ate in France. For what they give you, the prices are actually modest.
