The Hummingbird Inn is located in Goshen Virginia - which is about 3 miles from Goshen Pass (the most beautiful place in the world).
We stayed the weekend and had a delightful time. The Inn was beautifally decorated in different themes - I loved the nautical theme of the more formal living room - very tasefully done without overwhelming the visitor with anchors, life preservers and ship models. I really felt like we were sitting in the living room of a Brittish Commodore. The more rustic "family room" was a great place to gather for wine and board games. The sleeping rooms very spacious and comfortable. The furniture was comfortable and elegant. Although we were there for a winter weekend, it was obvious that great care has gone into the landscaping and layout of the grounds. The food was very good. Imaginative, beautifully presented - and most important - it was delicious!
I can't think of anything the owners could have done to make us more comfortable - or to have made us felt more welcome. I would definitely stay there again. I would also recommend the Hummingbird to anyone looking for a wonderful weekend escape.
*One word of caution* - Be aware before you go that the Inn is located close to a railroad track. We stayed two nights but only heard trains go by on the first night. This may be a problem for some, but for us, it just added to the charm and ambience - taking us back to a time before automobiles when folks used to venture to Goshen, arriving by train, to spend the entire summer at the old resorts that once dotted the mountains in a slower, less-hurried time.
