The Inn provided us with a wonderful Spring stay. Our host and hostess did everything with grace and the rooms and the breakfasts were excellent. The Inn is spacious, charming, and immaculate. Someday we will return. The location was midway between NJ and the Smoky Mountains, surrounded by lovely towns and hiking areas.

We arrived late at night and had to leave that next morning, but we enjoyed our time there so much. Thoughtful without being fussy, delicious breakfast, fresh air surroundings, and very comfortable bed and linens. Would drive out of our way to stay there again.

This place is perfect for a weekend away. Patty and Dan are great hosts - they seriously think of everything and have made the inn really welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast both days was amazing and they provide lots of extra goodies that were great for our hike in Douthat State Park. Patty and Dan answered every question we had about where to go and what to do. They really know everything going on in the area and have partnered with other local businesses to give guests discounts and nice little gifts. The only possible drawback is that the location is remote enough that it was a 25-30 minute drive to restaurants. At the end of a long day seeing the sights, that's a bummer, but it's also charming that Goshen is small and remote.

Room Tip: The Teter-Wood room has its own little outside patio with seating and a little table. We drank our...

My boyfriend and I went here for our two-year anniversary on a living social deal (so we got extra goodies--wine & chocolates, goodie bag, etc) and had a great time! It was secluded enough but also accessible to Lexington, Staunton, tons of hiking, and other activities. Patty and Dan were wonderful hosts--we got in at 11pm on Friday and they were up and ready to get us settled, they made great recommendations for places to go, and breakfast both mornings was delicious. We went to Rockbridge Winery, hiking in Douthat State Park, and to Lexington & Staunton for some meals and everything was lovely. I would definitely recommend the Hummingbird Inn!

My husband and I have stayed at several B&B's and have rented several beach homes over the years and the Hummingbird Inn is one of the most charming and immaculate places we have stayed. Their guest rooms are beautifully decorated, the rooms as well as the bathrooms are very clean!! The bed was extremely comfortable, so comfortable in fact, that my husband and I purchased the same sheets and comforter for our bed at home. Dan and Patty were extremely kind and make you feel right at home. We were there three days and every breakfast they served looked like something out of a magazine and was delicious!! My husband and I wanted to get away from the busy, hectic city life and the stress of our careers. The Hummingbird takes you back in time when life moved at a slower pace. The country setting is breathtakingly beautiful and the train passing by did not bother us at all. As a matter of fact, we welcomed the sound. It once again reminded us of the old charm that the Hummingbird offers where life is relaxed and peaceful. Goshen Pass is right up the road where we enjoyed the heavenly scenery as well as watching the kayakers. Can't forget to mention the swinging bridge that is nearby.....made me feel like a little girl again! Lexington is a charming old town about 25 minutes away where there are nice selections of restaurants and shopping. My husband and I love this town and it too takes you back in time where you can enjoy quaint boutiques, coffee shops and even a horse and carriage ride through town. Lexington is home to Washington & Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute. Whether it is relaxing on the charming grounds at the Hummingbird, taking a nap in your room, enjoying a garden tub-candle light bath, reading a book in the sunroom, sitting outside and watching the train go by or taking a nice romantic walk along the train tracks, sitting on the deck near the stream or looking for scenic enjoyment nearby, the Hummingbird is the place to visit!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Alleghany Guest Room. This room was very spacious and had lots of windows that over...

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hummingbird Inn. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable (with great sheets!). As others have noted, the owners are extremely helpful, informative, and accommodating. And, they provided such thoughtful gifts - everything we would need for a lovely happy hour on one of their porches! Breakfasts were delicious - and the hosts are anxious and prepared to meet dietary restrictions or preferences. We also enjoyed dinner at the Waterwheel Restaurant in Warm Springs and were delighted with a performance at the American Shakespeare Company in Staunton and with touring the Frontier Culture Museum. We had such a nice time that we are planning to return to the inn and explore the area some more.

Kudos to Patti and Dan for ensuring their guests have a wonderful experience.

The owners of the inn are really sweet and helpful. But with railroad tracks running right in front of the inn and trains passing at midnight, 2 am and 7 am each night, shaking the house and tooting loudly, this was not our idea of an idealic serene getaway.

We are sorry to hear that the trains bothered you and that the ear plugs provided didn't help to take the edge off for you.. Being in the country with a track in front of the house... the empty coal car trains do pass by randomly... sometimes multiple times, sometimes not at all... we wish we had a schedule or could do something about it - but we don't and we can't.... so sorry!
