“A Gem of an Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

The Hummingbird Inn is quite a gem. Located in the small, mountain town of Goshen, VA, you would never know it was there unless passing right by. This is a real place to escape the hustle & bustle of east coast, city life. Not a long drive from DC or surrounding areas... well worth the drive as the scenery and outdoor recreation in the area is first rate. Head out to the mountains for some hiking, biking, fishing, camping, you name it, it is available. The owners/hosts are as nice as can be and are always around to ensure you have a nice stay. Only draw back are the train tracks outside but this is not something I would be too concerned with... there are earplugs for sleeping and I found it kind of soothing to hear trains going by every once in a while... as I never hear them in the city due to the sirens and traffic. Overall, this B&B is worth it in costs and travel time. A perfect getaway for couples!

Room Tip: All the rooms have a unique theme and may appeal to people in different ways. If you want a large, c...

“Lovely time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

quiet out of the way home, lovely room and great breakfast! Train tracks are a little too close for comfort. The coffee was weak and luke warm. It's a shame that there is no where good to eat in Goshen. Would be great if owners had an evening meal option. The bed linens were soft and comfy!

Room Tip: route 39 is scenic and filled with s curves. Don't go this way if you get car sick!

Thanks for the insights. The train is indeed close, but we like to think of it as part of the county charm. Good news about the availability of...

“Nicest Inn We Ever have Stayed !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

The hosts are the nicest people and can't do enough for you.
The grounds are large and beautiful and are easy to enjoy from the wraparound porch.
Our room was large and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable with the best linens I have ever slept on !
Breakfast was super and different every day .
The deck overlooking the river with the fireplace is a great place to spend the evening.
They seem to provide everything you will need snacks, bug spray, bedside flashlight, you get the idea !
They are right next to a fairly active train track while I am a semi Rail-fan it didn't bother me or any of the guests we shared the time with, potential guests should be aware of this. .
I would return for a second visit and enjoyed our stay with them !

Room Tip: The Eleanor has a king bed

“The Pinnacle of Rest & Relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary at the Hummingbird Inn. We had never been to a bed and breakfast before, and I'm happy to say that we had a wonderful experience. This place is very quiet and the house is beautiful. The breakfast was amazing, and we couldn't have asked for more gracious hosts. We are so impressed with our stay---we definitely recommend this place to anyone seeking a relaxing time away from the daily grind. It's in a very scenic region of Virginia and just a short drive from several notable locations (Natural Bridge, Lexington, Staunton, James River, etc.). If you are going to stay at a Bed and Breakfast, we definitely recommend this place. We wished our trip didn't have to end!

Room Tip: The Teter-Wood is the only guest room on the 1st floor--this room is pet friendly and there is a pri...
