“A HGI not quite up to par”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

Stayed at this HGI for 2 weeks for business and as a frequent traveler and Diamond member this HGI was somewhat old. A remodel is overdue for this hotel. Room seem outdated compared to other HGIs. I cannot seem to get the heat/air temp just right, either too hot or cold. The front desk personnel was hit or miss. One lady was nice and friendly and the other wouldn't say a word. I generally order a hot breakfast however the cook didn't seem like he wanted to be there so I opted for already prepared foods. I just didn't get the same feeling from other HGIs I have stayed. The bar counter top is inverted so the overhang is on the server's side not the patrons so you have to sit sideways or your knees will bump against the bar and you will be far away to sit and eat. Need to make some changes at this HGI.

Good hotel. Convenient location. Nice pool and hot tub. Breakfast should be complimentary. Wished there was a lounge or bar service available. Wish room service or dinner was available on the weekends. Within walking distance to alot of things which was helpful. Not far from the major highways. Would stay here again. Room size was great. Nice to have two TV's. Comfort setting bed was a nice plus.

Mediocre Garden Inn. I love this chain but wouldn't stay at this location again. The lady at check in wasn't friendly whatsoever. The adjustable beds were a welcomed bonus, however.
Location was great, close to the Short Pump Mall and easy highway access. We stayed here to tour University of Richmond, which was a short 10 minute drive on the highway. It was nice because it wasn't in busy area of the city.

This hotel truly lives up to the Hilton standard and my expectations. The person that checked me in was one of the most friendliest people with a smile that brightened my day. She was knowledgeable and treated me like an honored guest. She even asked where I was having dinner and she gave me a coupon for a free appetizer at a close by steakhouse.
The room was clean and well kept although i always have problems with the "sleep number" mattress. a 1200pm checkout time was nice and i really enjoyed my stay.

This was a personal trip but one that was much needed. From the time I checked in to the time I left the hotel, I was made to feel like the most important person there. The staff was so friendly and very informative in directing me to places that were close by and within walking distance to the hotel. The staff took care of a quick check in and just made you feel important. I highly recommend this location to others.

I was in Glen Allen for a conference. The Garden Inn was the hotel the attendees were staying at. I was very impressed with the staff and the rooms. I had a king size room that left plenty of room for a nice area to hang out and not have to sit on the bed. I used the internet access on my Kindle Fire and was impressed with the speed. The bed was very comfortable with excellant pillows. The room was exceptionally clean and smelled very good. It was great having a microwave and refrigerator. I had some issues with the printer in the business center and the staff was not able to resolve the issues, so they let me use one of the office printers. I would have given this an excellent rating if it were not for having to pay for the breakfast. I did not eat breakfast there, but the breakfast was $10.95 and offered what other hotels offer for free in the continental breakfast. For a Hilton brand name, I would have thought breakfast would be included in the price of the room. It would be expensive to feed my family if this would have been a family trip. Otherwise, I was greatly satisfied with this hotel.

I have to travel to richmond almost weekly but when it is more than 2 days in row I will stay overnight. THe hilton is my current favorite. The hotel is reasonably priced and well located on the west end - convenient to local shopping in Short Pump - which in recent years has built up nicely. The hotel itself is walking distance to several restaurants. The rooms are extremely nice, good internet, microwave, in room coffee pot (although the coffee is OK but not real good). The staff is very nice and helpful.
* for geocachers - there are several nearby.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a "living room" area - a nice separation from the bedroom for watching TV.
