“Nice hotel, dissapointing staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We stayed here recently when I ran the marathon. I am a Gold member and have stayed at many Marriotts. This property was really disappointing from the staff's complete and utter lack of local knowledge. Any requests we had for area restaurants were met with either a Google search or a blank stare. It was almost infuriating.

As for the room- it wasn't too bad. When we needed something that house keeping didn't replenish, they were quick to correct.

Outside of the front-desk staff, the hotel was quiet nice.

Our family stayed at the Marriott, on the west side of Richmond, for a wedding. The reception was held there are well. The hotel room was very nice. The down side was that there was not a refrigerator in the room. It had to be special ordered and delivered at a cost. But, that is the only complaint about the room. It was nicely decorated, had a nice large window overlooking a quiet area. The beds were comfortable. The comforters on the beds are very heavy, so I had to set the A/C higher. The staff was great---first class---very polite and helpful. We loved the bartender---great personality. He gave us a good recommendation for an Italian restaurant closeby. The wedding reception was nice as well as the food from the hotel restaurant. No complimentary breakfast included and a fairly pricey breakfast buffet.I realize the hotel is huge and that a complimentary breakfast might be hectic and crowded if offered. Also, to use the computers in the business/computer room costs money. Close to the hotel was a great walking trail around several ponds/lakes--Innsbrook Trail. So my suggestions are: put refrigerators in the rooms, (even small economic hotels usually have them) and no charge to use the computers. But other than that we had a great experience and would recommend it.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room on the 4th floor looking out on the back side. Very few people parking back ther...

As others have said, the rooms are dated, but they are clean and comfortable.
The food was excellent, except breakfast, limited choice.
The best part though is Doug behind the bar, the man has no internal voice, lol
Funny as all get go, but so inappropriate at times, in very funny way.
Overall, I'd say the hotel is very good. easy to get to and as comfortable as any marriot I've stayed at.

We needed a place to stay in Richmond for a wedding and chose this Marriot because of the price and the location. It is in the suburbs, but is right off of 64 and 295 so it is actually pretty quick to get around town from there.

The room was smaller than I had hoped, but it and the lobby were clean. There was a decent selection of cable channels. Other than that there was not much! No free wifi, no free breakfast, no microwave or fridge in the room! We stayed with our two boys and the stay would've been much better if there had been some amenities. This is why I give it only 3 stars.

Our room was on the 5th floor-- you need your key to access that floor. There are no really good views i think from any of the rooms, but that is just because the hotel is situated in the suburbs.

Checking in a out was easy and the staff was courteous.

Was a very nice top of the line hotel in its day but that day has past unfortunately. In dire need of a complete refurbishment. Concierge lounge is quite small but conveniently located and well stocked. My room was noisy-fairly large but the mattress needed replacement and my request for extra pillows was ignored. Plenty of free parking was a plus and convenient to Short Pump mall is another plus.

I recently had a one-night stay at this hotel during a business trip and it was perfectly acceptable. I probably would not have selected to stay in this area of Richmond, but for the fact that my company's office is nearby. It is a bit far afield from the downtown area, for example.

The room and grounds were your standard Marriott experience. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the internet service fast and efficient, and the water pressure and temperature was perfect. The hotel public areas and rooms do show a bit of wear and are decorated in the usual conservative reds, greens and yellows, but you don't usually go to a Marriott for a cutting edge, modern experience.

The staff were all extremely friendly and efficient. Parking was self-service and plentiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short business trip, but would not stay here for leisure.

We were greeted by a lovely lobby, well appointed seating area, view of bar area pleasant to the eye. Room was plush, bed was very comfortable, bathroom was top of the line. Drawback, no complimentary breakfast.
