“You can sleep here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

This place is nice. The staff was very friendly and personable. The only problem I had was the other guests who insisted on banging on the walls, when there was a little bit of commotion going on. It was the weekend for goodness sake, who sleeps at 9pm?? Good grief.
I enjoyed myself at this particular Marriott.

Room Tip: A good tip goes a long way here.

We weren't very happy with this hotel. It needs a lot of tender loving care. The hall's carpet was dusty in the corners, old TV's with very limited stations, dirty telephones, the elevators made the worst noise, just knew we were going to stop, dinner in the restaurant was best left alone, there was a buffet in the morning, ok, but too expensive for what was there. The sheets on the bed never stayed on. Adventure west to the Short Pump area, lots of new hotels and the price is the same.

Room Tip: Facing the front on the concierge level

My husband and I frequently stay at this hotel when we are visiting family in Richmond. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. Seden and Arman at the desk are superb. Ellen, Hester, and Abi in the diningroom see to our every need. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: the suites are wonderful and great for families where one person likes to sleep later.

This is the fourth year I used this hotel out of many to choose from. I love the location. Very close to Short Pump shopping and there is an Awesome Wholefoods nearby along with several Starbucks. The Hotel Staff is always friendly and ready to help with any concerns. If your a runner, there are many places to run just right outside of the hotel.

I have stayed at the Marriott Glen Allen on several occasions for business. The hotel is fine, but could use a facelift. The bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is more than adequate. The furnishings are a bit outdated, and the wallpaper needs to be replaced, but my room has always been clean, comfortable, and well maintained.

The Concierge Lounge could use some other food options. The breakfast is always the same, and never seems to change. They also need to do a better job of cleaning the tables in the morning. There are not that many tables to start out with, and this morning most of them had not been cleaned, so there were dirty plates and glasses everywhere, and no clean table to sit at. There is really no excuse for that.

The pool is small as if the Fitness Center, but they are functional. The Front Desk Staff are always friendly. There is a nice bar are in the lobby to sit and have a drink.

When on a business trip, I don’t spend that much time at a hotel other than to sleep and shower. So for me, a comfortable and clean environment is what I am looking for after a long day at the office. I have always gotten that at the Marriott Glen Allen.

I travel a lot (over 100 nights a year in hotels) and this was the most disappointing hotel in memory. The staff was efficient and friendly but everything about the hotel is dated - wallpaper, bedding, art, lamps, tube tv, etc. When I checked in, I heard them say they were sold out. I considered asking them to leave after seeing my room. Instead I decided to stay for one night and move tomorrow. No one at the hotel did anything wrong but no one asked why I called to shorten my stay within 10 minutes of entering the room.

Aside from loyalty to Marriott, I can't imagine why someone would stay here. It isn't the best location. The Hilton or Hyatt House in Short Pump are new and close but in a better location.

Room Tip: Pick a room in another hotel

Checked in for a two night stay for business, the front desk staff was pleasant, but the room not so pleasant.  The wall paper is peeling, the refriderator in room looked like it had seen better days.  For a short stay, it is acceptable but not what I would expect from a full service Marriott.  The rates and prices for dinner/drinks reflect full service Marriott but the quality of the hotel does not warrant the rates and prices charged.  Very disappointed.
