Almost flew past it on the highway, but something drew us into this funky-looking, ramshackle restaurant. We were looking for something 'authentic' -- and we found it. Late lunch of iced tea and soft-shell crab sandwiches served with fries and onion rings and squeeze bottles of tartar and cocktail sauce. Crab was cooked perfectly -- not overdone and not greasy. The place has a busy, down-home feel to it -- and if you show up on a weekend night there's apparently a happening scene at the Tiki bar. It's also obviously a family destination on a weekend afternoon, which gives it a nice feeling of intimacy and home. Most of the clientele were obviously local and seemed to be regulars.
Keep your eye out for this one as you race down the road -- it's worth a stop.
