Apartment 2G is apparently worth its reviews - it is very difficult to get into on a weekend. So, at the recommendation of our B&B hosts, we decided to try Element (same owners, same wine lists, just downstairs).
It's a small place, described as a bistro but not quite as cute (in my opinion). The menu is limited (four or five entrees), but the food was delicious! The soup was a generous size (a yummy carrot ginger), but the empanadas were a disappointment - very small, only four per serving...and they were not empanadas (at least not in the Colombian tradition) - they were tasty, but they more resembled pan fried Oriental dumplings. The entrees were well prepared and very reasonably priced, so no complaints there.
My husband and I had two appetizers, two entrees, a bottle of wine, and dessert for just over $80. I did not expect this quality of a restaurant in Front Royal - and at first glance I did not expect to be this impressed. Definitely worth a visit.
P.S. - try the Paso a Paso Tempranillo. It's a great bottle of red at a very good price!
