We pulled in to this hilltop inn at the end of a day of motorcycling on the Blue Ridge Pkwy/Skyline Drive and had no trouble navigating the steep driveway. Once at that top we had a temporary qualm about the somewhat unkempt outside appearance but once inside, all memory of those concerns immediately faded. The eclectic decorations were fascinating, especially the collection of quilts, but the coup de grace was the hospitable bar with beer on tap and wine of many varieties, complimentary for guests!
Hosts Bob & Joanie are a trip - really nice people who are genuine, cool, friendly, and just super all around innkeepers. Their daughter in law Sarah actually greeted us upon arrival and made us feel instantly welcome. We eventually met the rest of the clan including 18 mos old Mary Sophia (adorable) and Otis, a very big and exceedingly friendly Mastiff that Sarah and Greg rescued in Japan.
Comfy rooms, great amenities (including cookies in room, bath salts, talc powder, robes!), and wonderful breakfast.
Location is lovely - on a hill, with porch and rockers to watch the mountains in the distance, a short walk to town and dinner spots.
Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this spot to travelers who like comfort and high hospitality with wonderful innnkeepers. Definitely our lodging highlight from 8 days on the road.
