“Superb stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012 via mobile

What an excellent place to stay if you are visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway. We stayed in a two bedroom suite which had plenty of room. Everything is up to date and the living room was very comfortable. Who knew playing checkers with the kids for 2 hours could be so entertaining. My only regret is we were only in town for one day. If there were Floyd's around the globe i would choose them over all else.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Floyd. It is within walking distance of several restaurants, shops and open air market featuring local artists.

Floyd's Country Store hosts Friday night jamborees. You can purchase a ticket for $5 and sit in air conditioning to hear the bands. Or you can buy an ice cream or grilled cheese sandwich.

Every Friday night, musicians come to play on the streets and appreciative visitors sit and listen. Floyd is a charming town with several restaurant choices on the main streets in downtown Floyd.

We also had a great lunch at Oddfellas Cantina & Tapas Bar on Hwy 8 (North Locust St). Our dinner experience at El Charro was less enjoyable. We waited 15 min to be seated and it took another 45 min to receive our dinner. The food was very good but who wants to wait so long to eat? The server nor the owner bothered to explain the situation or offer any compensation. At least take off the cost of our drinks (iced tea) or offer a free dessert.

We ate breakfast at the Blue Ridge Restaurant. Typical small town eatery so it serves basic food in a very informal atmosphere. I wouldn't suggest lunch or dinner.

We stayed in one of the pet friendly suites since there were not any bedrooms available. The suite is large and comfortable with a modern kitchen and dining area.

The tiled floor needed to be mopped since we found our white socks to be soiled after walking around the suite. Otherwise, we found the suite and the bathroom to be very clean.

The hotel opened in 2007 and it's a green facility. We definitely love the location so we'll return the next time we are in Floyd.

Everyone in the office was wonderful to deal with. They gave us solid information about the town.

Although it was late on a Monday and only 2 walkable places to eat were open, Hotel Floyd was clean, the coffee was great in the morning and our view was really special (an old graveyard). Highly recommend it!

We scheduled a stop here between Brevard, NC and Shenandoah National Park--this small town is very charming, and earns a stop on its own! Would have liked to have spent the following day and night, but had reservations in the park. The Hotel Floyd was perfect! Great management, nice, large, well appointed rooms, all decorated differently--you can visit the web site to actually view the rooms and details of each. Only six miles (approximately) from the Parkway--not many that close to the Parkway, and this has to be the best!

Our stay at Hotel Floyd was an excellent experience. The rooms were the cleanest most comfortable I have ever stayed in. The suite's layout had been planned very well, making the most of the available space. Residents of Floyd have contributed their artistic talents to the decor of the rooms and suites. We stayed in "The Artist Suite" and there is a book in the suite, which tells about the artists who created the art in each room of the suite. There are porches outside of each room with rockers, where you can sit and visit with friends and the hotel staff. The hotel staff is amazing. They provided us with friendly service and conversation. The hotel is located within walking distance of the town's attractions. Needless to say, we cannot wait to return!

Fourteen of my family members just stayed at the Hotel Floyd when in Floyd for a family reunion. The suites were perfect for larger groups like ours and gave us space to gather and visit. There are also porches running along the outside of the building where one can sit in rockers and read or visit. The furnishings are beautiful and many are hand-made by local woodworkers and other craftsmen. There is a small outdoor space where the small children in our group played tag. There is no breakfast available so we walked to the diner around the corner. Floyd, the town, is an odd place, with some beautiful craft stores, live music on Friday nights, but not much else.

Room Tip: Look on line to see each room and suite and pick the one where you want to stay.
