“Rustic and quaint”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

The hotel is rather difficult to find. If going towards town, you will definitely miss the turn into the hotel because it cannot be seen easily. Going away from town is better but look for the sign very carefully or you will still miss it. The hotel cannot be seen from the highway and the gravel road just looks like a path to nowhere. The room was clean. One can sit on the porch on chairs furnished. There is a lacking of towel racks in the bathroom. Just one wooden dowel rod hook. The tv was goofy with its set up so we hardly bothered. The office is away from the rooms and not marked well either. Be careful backing out in your car or you will end up in a deep trench and a very damaged car. There are some railroad ties as a stop but by then it is too late. All and all, it was ok enough.

Room Tip: I just took what I got and it was not a deal breaker.

My room looked clean when I entered but I soon discovered that the floor had not been vacuumed (I could feel clumps through my sox), there were whiskers on the shelf in the bathroom, and sticky rings from drinks on two different tables. The housekeeping staff is NOT THOROUGH! For the price I paid I expected it to be immaculate. Other than that the accommodations were quite satisfactory, but in my opinion it was unsanitary and that is a deal-killer for me.

Know that if you are on the street side, ground floor you will hear everything the folks above you do both inside and outside - sounds like their chairs scooting on the deck (if they are smokers, the chairs will scoot at all hours) - sounds like their whirpool tub filling AND when they turn on their whirlpool tub....your room will be filled with a loud sound like you've never heard...plus you can actually hear their body parts squeaking loudly in their tub....eeeewwwww!....sounds like every bottle they drop into their trash can echoing thru your room, sounds like everytime they flush.....just know your room will not be quiet at all. I thought problems like these had been "cured" in motels a long long time ago

Know that you should not use the coffee maker before you check out the coffee pot....ours was nasty...we went out for coffee!

Know that you may find hairs around your sink and in your tub....like we did....yuck!

Know that your bathroom could smell like urine.....

Know that you will be paying too much for a room in this sad state of upkeep....

Know that there are other options in the Floyd area - Pine Tavern on Rt 221N for instance.....

Know that it is a good location but location is surely not everything as we found out....

Know that we will never stay at this place again......

I stayed in room "suite 102" at the backside. Roomy, however filled with a collection of old furniture. Used towels were on the floor, not enough clean towels available.Very noisy AC, only 1 small window in the room. 99$ is very overrated for this room. Icemachine defunct, no working internet. Wouldn't recommend it.

One positive thing: good itialian restaurant in the industrial area opposite.

Room Tip: Check the room before you sign

We stayed on a Friday night. Apparently this is the busiest night of the week. The motel is in a good location but that is really it. Rooms were very basic. Cheap towels, only 2 polystyrene cups, very small bathroom and a broken ice machine (although there was ice in the in room fridge). My wife would have liked a hair dryer. If you keep the AC on full it blocks out the noise of the nearby road.
This place is ok for a one night stay as you pass through.

We stayed for 2 nights while exploring the city of Floyd. The room was clean and spacious. the bed was comfortable. The tv is dated as a previous reviewers noted and not user-friendly but for a short stay it was ok. The rates were better than the chain hotels and it was much closer to the sights we wanted to see. The office staff was friendly. We had no issues so I cannot comment on that. We would stay there again if in the area. If you are staying long term then this would probably not be the place for you. A. ll in all, not a bad deal for the money

Room Tip: Get an upstairs room if you can

I stayed at the Oak Haven for two nights. The room was large and basically clean. It was in dire need of updating. The TV was a small 15-20 yr old set. The satellite service was not customer friendly. There is no direct service to the office for any type of assistance. I had to call the office from my cell phone. A request was made for assistance with their tv/satellite service. The desk person seemed annoyed to have to come to my room to correct the TV problem. The lodge has a dual purpose.....lodge and assisted living facility. My belief is that it was most definitely overpriced for the amenties/or lack thereof that were/were not offered. I would not stay there ever again. I was unable to sleep due to the noise in the upstairs room. The noise of people walking and talking was very loud.
