“Loved It !!!”

I arrived at the lodge very late and was in contact with the owner, who left a light on for me and the key in the door. Once I got out of my car , I smelled the most beautiful scent, it was hemlock which was used to build the lodge. I had the best nights sleep in the wonderful king size bed, after a relaxing bath in the jacuzzi. The room was filled was nice homey touches inside and out.I highly reccomend it.

My friend and I went to Oak Haven Lodge just for an overnight get-together. The location of the Lodge is great - close enough to the town & the Parkway to be convenient, but far enough away to be slightly more quiet.
Speaking of quiet, though, that's the only thing I'd pause about for the next trip to Floyd & Oak Haven Lodge - the place is between two roads (one of them a major thoroughfare) and the road traffic is quite audible. INSIDE, however, the room-to-room noise is what was hard to sleep with. Fortunately, the people around us slept at decent hours and tried to keep their voices down.
Thumpings from above, loud exclamations from either side, and other such noisy nuisances were the only problem. Otherwise the room was clean and simple (and the price was great).

We stayed for 5 nights at Oak Haven Lodge. Although the Lodge is very clean I have to say that the accomodations rate about the same as a motel 6. From the outside appearance, I expected something a little more plush on the inside but was a bit disappointed to find it "just another hotel room". On a positive note; the staff is exceptionally friendly and willing to help with whatever you need. Also, they now have wireless internet access in the rooms which is ALWAYS a definite decision factor for me in choosing where I will stay. Should the need arise I would stay at Oak Haven Lodge again.

  • Liked — the location.. very close to the main street in Floyd and finally getting wireless internet
  • Disliked — you can hear everything when there are people staying on the 2nd floor. also, the bathrooms are very small in the king rooms with garden tub.

Don't expect a lot of extras, but instead it was very clean, spacious and the king bed was very comfortable.

My husband and I were looking for a "romantic" getaway, and decided on the Oakhaven Lodge based on location to downtown Floyd. As in the previous review, the suites were disappointing. Located around the back of the property on the lower level overlooking a warehouse and parking lot. We could hear every footstep the folks upstairs took across the floor. The decor would be similar to "dorm room" decor, mixed-matched furniture with a few small prints on the walls. The suite needed some work (curtains had fallen down in the bathroom, closet door missing, etc.). On a positive note, the location is great, the suite was pretty clean, the property management pleasant, the suite was indeed spacious for a family of four or even five (with small children) and would be comfortable for an extended stay.

We had booked one of the apartment suites advertised as "on the lower level." This is not the lower level shown in the photos of the building on the website, however, but the basement accessible from behind the building. There is no deck or patio--from the outside it looks like only utility access--and two small windows look out on a warehouse across the street. We didn't stay, and we couldn't get a full refund despite the inaccurate advertising. Other standard rooms on the front side would probably be fine if you are looking for a reasonably cheap place to stay and can't get one of the comparably priced rooms in the various B&Bs in the area.

The Oak Haven was a bit like a "country-style" upscale motel, and was well located in Floyd. We arrived in the evening and were dissapointed that our previously booked king with a hot tub was double-booked. They were very nice about it, but we ended up in a regular king room. The hotel was clean and quiet. Nothing special, and the beds were quite hard and the sheets cheap-- the little country touches were nice. But, that said, it was certainly reasonable for the price in the area, and we had a fantastic dinner at the Pine Tavern. A god choice for a budget stay for Floyd.
