“Wonderful Choice for Exploring the Middle Shenandoah Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2006

The beds in this hotel were absolutely fantastic. We got a room with two Queen-size beds for ourselves and our two moderately young children, and the beds were huge, covered in a luxuriously thick comforter, and had marvelously crisp sheets. This hotel is relatively new (opened 2001), but I got the sense that everything was in great shape and absolutely clean not merely because it was new, but because the management and staff cares fiercely about taking good care of it.

We found the location great for exploring the Shenandoah valley -- you're within a 40-mile drive by Interstate to a huge chunk of the valley's attractions, excluding only those in the northern end (Winchester/Harper's Ferry) and around Roanoke. The only drawbacks I can cite about this location were that the indoor swimming pool is relatively small -- good for children 11 or younger, but not much else -- and it's about a 6-7 mile drive up the interstate to the restaurants of Staunton. But you can do it in 10 minutes, and then return to a place that's wonderfully quiet. It's also well-suited for exploring Charlottesville, which was barely 20 minutes east. Finally, the staff was very helpful and friendly.

I stopped here based on the reviews on tripadvisor. They were all true. The clerk was being harried on the phone but had a great sense of humor. The rooms were great for the price, and the amenities were very nice. We would definitely stop in again.

Exceptional value!

Convenient to interstate, full (hot) breakfast, wieght room, indoor pool and small lobby area.

This hotel provided large, clean comfortable rooms and a great price. Only minutes from Staunton and Waynesboro. 25 minutes to Charlottesville. Don't expect luxurious grounds (gas station next door and farmland behind), but for a comfortable friendly place, with good service and nice room, you can't go wrong here.

I stay at a lot of Hampton Inns. This property is in excellent condition. Room was recently redecorated, and they had tne new 'hampton bed'. Room was super clean, and service from staff was great.

This is a great Hampton Inn! Nothing but good things to say: rooms were impeccably clean and tasteful, bed and pillows comfortable, plenty of towels and a countryside view to die for! This location is right off I-64. The Shell station next door had the least-expensive gas around the area. The store inside the Shell was well-stocked, new and fresh. They'll make sandwiches for you for the road or trail. You may have to drive a few miles for sit-down or fast food dining, but it's well worth the stay at this hotel. Staff was very friendly and professional. Breakfast was continental including danish, cereal, waffles, bagels, toast, sausage, juice, fruit, yogurt and 3 choices for coffee and the now-popular flavored creamers. Breakfast condiments were plentiful! Pool very clean. I will stay there over and over again.

This was a really great Hampton! It was sort of out in the middle of nowwhere but that was fine for just overnight. The pool was small but clean. There were lots of clean, fluffy towels for us to use and a hamper to but the dirty ones in. There was a bathroom right at the pool so we didn't have to drag wet kids though the lobby for one. The room was very clean and they gave each bed three pillows! The free breakfast was extensive and there was plenty of seating for everyone. On this trip we stayed in 4 different hotels and this was by far the best.

HIGHS: friendliness of staff, cleanliness of room & public areas, spacious room, central location, value
LOWS: no high speed internet
Family of 4 stayed here in June, 2004 in Room 410, which is described as an "extra wide" room. (It was more spacious than most rooms in this type of hotel. ) Everything about the hotel was clean and well-maintained. The staff was efficient, friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was pretty much standard fare, although everything was fresh and well-stocked. There was an attendant who kept all the tables clean and replenished the buffet as needed. The indoor pool and fitness room were well maintained. The hotel is located right off I -64, about 8 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive/Shenandoah Nat'l Park. The countryside is beautiful. The only thing within walking distance of the hotel is a gas station/large convenience store (with a Dunkin Donuts inside). But 3 miles east on I-64 is Waynesboro, with all the usual restaurant chains. 15 minutes away in Staunton is Mrs. Rowe's Family Restaurant, one of our family's favorite places to eat homestyle food and homemade pies. Ask the hotel staff for directions.
