“Excellent Stay At The White Horse, Chilgrove, Chichester, West Sussex.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

We stayed one night at this lovely Inn in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, The accommodation was excellent and very clean and décor tastefully done, we were lucky to have a room with a hot tub just outside in the secluded garden which we found very relaxing on a cool winters evening and again the following morning. We had a lovely evening meal with wine, the service was very good and complements to the chef , and also the full English breakfast the following morning could not be beaten. And we will definitely be back Tim & Tina H

Room Tip: Ask for the VIP suite with a hot tub

Stayed two nights pre and post a family wedding. Room was very comfortable-underfloor heating made them very warm and cosy. Excellent shower. Bed and linen made for a comfortable nights sleep. Family 'fish & chip' casual dinner was of an excellent standard. Breakfast was good but service a bit slow but we were a big party.
Hotel is set deep in the country-a perfect base for walking or biking.
Dont expect WiFi but all in all a very good rural retreat

Room Tip: We stayed in Stag which had an outdoor. jacuzzi

Hi we have just returned from a stay at the white horse. All lovely but unfortunately our 10 year old was sick at night. We stripped bed, tidied up as much as we could but £20 was added to the bill - think this was a bit mean considering our family of five (2 adults 3 kids) had booked 2 rooms for the 2 nights, with dinner etc (over £600) plus the entire place was booked out for our family wedding. Sorry guys but just thought this was a bit unnecessary.

I stayed here about 2 weeks ago and loved every second of it! We stayed in the Stag room which was beautifully decorated, immaculate and very comfortable... loved the 3D TV and hot tub too!! We missed breakfast in the morning so couldn't comment, but lunch was delicious and fairly priced I feel. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I can not fault The White Horse on anything... Thank you for a lovely stay!

So lovely to have The White Horse up and running again after it's time as a fish house! Had a fabulous family roast here last Sunday! Allow lots of time! Everyone seems to run on continental time! We walked in at midday and left at 4 but we have no complaints! The choice of roast was beef, venison and belly pork and all of us tried one or the other with everyone declaring that their's was the best! Food quality was fabulous with an amazing pudding selection afterwards that tempted most of us! It IS expensive! But worth paying the extra for this quality of food! Please ignore my rating for sleep quality! I pressed it by mistake and now cannot get rid of it! We obviously did not snooze over our meal!

A very pleasant stay rooms are modern, well equipped and the bed was a good size and very comfortable, nearly didn't book due to previous reviews but I am very glad I did.. I experienced no issues with noise and found the whole experience very good. Staff were excellent and the pub and restaurant were faultless (see separate review). The rooms are perhaps a little expensive but compared with fussy overpriced hotels or cheap and nasty B&Bs its worth a visit..

We had a very disappointing stay at The White Horse. The food and our waitress were good, however, the price tag of 160 pounds for a night's stay was ridiculously over-priced.

We stayed in Snipe Room. Described as one of their luxury rooms, the paper thin walls allow you to have the luxurious feeling that your neighbours were in the room with you (seriously - you can hear EV-ER-Y-THING).

I'm still waiting for a reply to an email I sent complaining about the standard of the room and our stay. I'm very disappointed at their lack of response as I am still waiting over a week after sending it.

Save your money and go somewhere cheaper. It's all style and no substance here.

Room Tip: Sleeping in your car would probably be quieter than using one of the rooms here.
