“A community treasure with unusual showings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

This has been our favorite movie theater for years, because, in addition to box office hits, it shows foreign language and artsy movies that are seldom screened at other theaters nearby. Tickets for seniors on Wednesdays are only $5, and prices generally are reasonable. The management is responsive in adjusting the volume or temperature when customers report being uncomfortable. Cinema Arts sometimes hosts special viewings in cooperation with local organizations, e.g. an annual film week with the Jewish Community Center; and the documentary "The Invisible War" with AAUW. There are six theaters at this older establishment in Fair City Mall. Its website is useful.

“Love this theatre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

We love this place. It shows new, first rate movies and unusual ones, like foreign or indie movies. It also has the best popcorn in the area, other than University Mall, which is owned by the same guy. Speaking of the owner, how can you not love a theatre where the owner prowls the aisles before shows, refilling popcorn tins and asking for feedback from the audience on upcoming movies he is thinking about getting? It isn't plush; it could use updating but the seats are comfortable. It does not have giant screens, so don't go here to see the next Star Wars blockbuster. But otherwise it's a great local theatre.

“Out of the way - great flicks!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

It's in a busy shopping center so the quality of films is somewhat unexpected. It's independently owned so you're not just going to some multiplex. I've been there when the manager came out before the film started and polled the audience on what films they might like to see next!! Try getting that kind of consideration at a mulitplex! They get all the big current films but also a lot if "indie" films you might not find elsewhere. A joy!

“Neighborhood feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Cinema Arts is located in an ugly strip mall and is in need of updating but the quirky ambiance and most reasonably priced snacks anywhere make up for it.Plus, the selection of movies is generally not mainstream and is more attractive.Well worth the trip.

“Great movies; great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Fabulous independently owned theatre with great first run movies. A beloved neighborhood theatre with a $5 senior day. The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that it is somewhat basic in amenities. But recent upgrades in sound and seating have helped a lot. if you value independent theatres, give this one your business!
