Stayed here for a week on a business trip and it was surprisingly good.
The room is large and has different 3 different areas: the Bed (which is quite comfy and large), living room (with a wide screen LED TV, and many open cable channels), sofa and a table, and a big kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, oven, stove and coffee machine.
The bathroom is also large and nice, and the AC does the work.
The breakfast is very good and has a variety of hot dishes, yogurts sweets and drinks.

Room Tip: If you don't have pets, and prefer a more quiet/ less smelly stay- ask for a room in the area wh...

I recently stayed at this hotel for a week before moving into my new home in Fairfax, and had a very nice stay. The rooms are cleverly designed -- lots of built-in shelves and cubby holes for storage throughout -- and I quite liked the layout of the kitchen, with its built-in dining area. The gym is also well equipped, and the laundry room is clean and has plenty of washers/dryers. This hotel is about 10 minutes away from George Mason, so I recommend it for visiting family members or those doing business at the university.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the parking lot will be quieter as they are away from the street

Like the title of my review states, this is my go to hotel when I'm in the area. It is a little ways from the airport however I still think it's a top notch hotel for the price.

The front staff are absolutely amazing. I usually arrive a little before check in and they have never turned me down or made me wait. They've always gone out of their way to accommodate me and give me a room. Now that's what I call service!

The studio nature of the room is actually quite nice. The room is big enough to have a full sized kitchen, living room and your bedroom. Enough room if you're traveling with multiple people.

Rooms come with a nice sized kitchen if you're going to be spending more than a few days. Full sized fridge, dishwasher, stove and microwave. The cabinets also come stocked with plates and dishes. Everything you'd need to prep and make a meal if you needed to.

The room actually has a Ethernet connection!! Not many places you stay have one anymore. Connecting via Ethernet grants you with a fast connection. I was able to get a lot of work done with how fast the connection was. However when it came down to the WiFI... It was certainly slower in comparison.

The bed itself is rather comfortable. Not too soft. Not too firm. Just right for a good nights sleep. I had absolutely no issues falling asleep.

Bathroom is large and accommodating. The glass shower is a nice touch. Definitely a step up from most of the tub/showers that you find in other hotels.

Breakfast in the morning was top notch. It's a full breakfast. Not one of those grab and go or a slim pickings breakfasts. Enough tables and little nooks with TV's to allow you to get your morning fix.

As for the downsides. I will say that the first floor did smell a lot like wet dog when I first came in. However they did have a odorizer going and by the next day the smell was gone. The pool is outside so you weren't able to enjoy the come and go of an indoor pool. Minor downsides but not a deal killer.

Overall the stay was nice. I've stayed here multiple times and haven't been disappointed yet. It's certainly my go to whenever I'm in the area. Can't wait to stay again!

Room Tip: Ask for a upper floor.

Dear Matthew B.,

Thanks for making us your Go-To-Hotel and for writing us an amazing review! Great news, our self-chlorinating salt water pool is opening this weekend and the weather is perfect. Thanks for letting us know about the first floor. We’ve already addressed this issue, and plan on making your next stay even better. We really appreciate your loyalty and thoughtfulness. This Residence Inn is very nice. It is either new, or recently upgraded, but either way, it's just great. We have stayed here twice, visiting our daughter at GMU, and it's about 10 minutes away. The staff is friendly and helpful (I like extra blankets!), parking is easy and (!) free, and the breakfast room is quite nice, little private seating areas with our own tv. We are Marriott Rewards participants, so we stay at their properties whenever we can, but this one is special.

Room Tip: No bad rooms, it's a very quiet location.

After a disappointing stay in another local hotel, we decided to stay at Residence Inn while in Fairfax for Family Weekend at George Mason University. So glad we did! Our room was huge (King suite) - clean, comfortable, and quiet. My only complaint about the room was that the sofa bed (where my son would be sleeping) was not made up. Arriving late at night, I did not appreciate having to make up the bed. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. Location was convenient to GMU, restaurants, stores, etc. Plenty of parking and despite being located in a very busy intersection, the room was quiet with no street noises. Despite all of these positives, the best thing about this hotel was the friendly, professional, and extremely accommodating staff. From housekeeping to the front desk, every request we had was accommodated with smiles. We met friends in the lobby/lounge one night to share a bottle of wine. The front desk cheerfully provided wine glasses and a corkscrew to open the wine and asked if there was anything else we needed. This is definitely our new place to stay in Fairfax and with my son at George Mason, we'll be back!

The room is clean and comfortable. The bed - same! The employees are very professional and friendly. The exercise room is a bit out of the way (and you have to pass through the lobby to get to it; which is no fun) but is very clean, well-kept, and accessible 24-7. The breakfast buffet is fabulous.

But ohhh the bathroom. The toilet paper is flimsy single-ply. We had to go out and buy some normal toilet paper. There is no tub - just a tub-sized shower. The ascension plate in the shower (you know, the little cover where the shower handle is located?) is shiny, reflective metal. You are forced to view distorted body images for about half of your shower - who in the world thought of using reflective materials there? And the drain on the shower is not affixed, so don't step on it or it will slip off of the hole and show you some really gross stuff. The bathroom gets a zero and a half and is the only reason I didn't give this hotel a 5.

Oh, in the parking lot are some strange parking stalls marked Car Pools Only. They are the prime parking spots for the hotel. We asked about this and were told it is part of being "green" but that they aren't patrolled so park there if you'd like. (I think that might have explained the cheap 1-ply toilet paper - which I thought was gross. (Did I already mention that?)

Green Features: The toilet paper is gross. Recycled toilet paper is allowed to contain heat-sensitive paper which sounds nebulous but can create all sorts of problems for women. And it is 1-ply so it's also just gross.

Stayed here for for a wedding and it was fantastic. Got a king suite and it was worth it. Very spacious, great breakfast and location good if staying around area. Clean, kind staff and very accommodating. Kids enjoyed it and the pool looks great for a summer stay. Only minus is the WiFi wasn't great. That's my only complaint. Don't tout it if it isn't strong.
