Everything was excellent. The service, food, decor, value. What a suberb experience!

We went for an early dinner on a Tuesday, mind you, but the staff was SO attentive and everything we ordered was delicious. We loved it, and the friends who took me there consider it one of their faves. So when I'm back in the area for travel, I plan on definitely returning!!

“Average at best. Food is decent.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner with a large group. Service was typical of most Indian restaurants. The owner/manager(?) was very welcoming and did his best to make patrons feel comfortable and at home. He was helping others with food selections and explaining the menu. Seemed to try to hard to get people to buy alcohol.

The food did not stand out. Seemed fresh. Servings were typical of most other restaurants. Decent vegetarian selections. If you don't see something on the menu they can probably make it anyway.

The cafe/bistro set up is different but works for this small space. Some outdoor seating available. The photos of Bollywood stars is neat. On a side not they should have put up a vintage photo of Amitabh Bachchan rather than a more current one. Would have fit the theme better. Also, we were the only Indian people in the restaurant at the time. Not sure if that is good or bad.

A few tips. Eat here with a Groupon. Also, make a reservation.

“Top Indian Cuisine without a 24 hour flight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Granted I am not of Indian descent, but this is the best Indian food I have had anywhere around the world. The spices are understated but delivered with true cuisine. The wait staff are prompt without hovering. The restaurant is crowded most of the time, because they have a lot of return customers. You can try a new thing each time and I assure you, you will find great food. Try the Indian smoothies, the Makhan Palak, the lamb, and the carrot halwa. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but it is worth the expense to have excellent Indian food in a clean atmosphere with a great staff.

“Sweet Indian...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Sweet, Sweet, Sweet! I will never go again. Haven't been here since it first opened and it has gone way downhill! I don't know why people like this food. Maybe it's southern Indian....

“Good atmosphere, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

There are a number of very good Indian restaurants in the Northern Virginia area, and this probably is not one of the top three, but it's still quite good. It's rather small, so come early or make reservations. The wine selection is decent (better than usual for an Indian place) and the food is tasty. Oddly for an Indian restaurant, they have a really good crème brule for dessert (at least they did the last time we went). We like to eat dinner here and then go over to the Wine House for post-dinner wine. I wouldn't recommend going with kids. They used to have great deals on resteraunt.com where you could get a $25 gift certificate on sale for $2. I don't know if they still do.
