“Hard To Find, But Worth It”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

My GPS took me through the center of the campus. However, the hotel is directly off of Route 123. In fact, my room looked through the trees at Route 123. The room was immaculate, large and much nicer than the local national chain hotel I normally stay at on nearby Route 50/29/211. The ladies at the front desk were pleasant, helpful and attentive. The reception area was large, airy and comfortable. Parking in the garage was available close to the elevator. Outside overflow parking is convenient also. The cost was about $20 higher than the local national chain but well worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face Rt 123. Though I could not hear ANY traffic, I think that the vie...

“Not what we expected”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

My wife and I came here for our anniversary and because we are alumni. We thought it would be nice that we get to see how things have changed. When we arrived, I was wearing sweats and a long sleeved athletic shirt. I know I'm not the best looking guy, however, the two agents at the desk appeared to be a little taken aback when they saw me. People do not realize their facial expressions react faster than the words out of their mouth. During the check in process, the agent appeared to be a little afraid and would not even look at me. I tried to just let it be, I'm here with my wife to enjoy our time so I let it go. Later that evening we had dinner, went shopping and to a show. My wife wanted something to eat from the hotel restaurant, and they were clearly busy serving a wedding party, I believe. However, as we approached, some of the patrons turned and looked at me like I was coming to rob the place. Now I know this was no fault of the hotel, but it was just extremely uncomfortable. While I was waiting for my wife, the security guard just so happened to spend time in the area. My wife waited for her food and I went to take my shopping bags to the room. I walked pass about four front desk employees at the check in and there was no eye contact and not even a hello or attempted nod of acknowledgment. I cam back down stairs to wait with my wife while she got her food. We went back up to our room and as we stepped off of the elevator, there was the security guard again. It could have been coincidence. With that being said, we were made to feel like we didn't fit the profile of true alumni or hotel guest. Maybe its because I was not in a suit and my beard was not trimmed. We left here and went to the Fair Oaks Marriott the next morning and the difference was like night and day. The hotel staff at the Marriott were wonderful to us. When they realized that it was our anniversary, they even sent us a bottle of wine which was a nice gesture. After reading the reviews of the GMU hotel here, obviously, people have had great experiences here. However, we did not. I was really disappointed. Just my two cents.

“Comfortable spacious rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

Large rooms with all the gadgets you would expect. Staff is helpful and polite. The hotel is huge and gorgeous. It is close everything on the George Mason campus. Beds are very soft and comfortable. Rooms near the ice machine got a little noisy from all the traffic.

“Very Happy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

I stayed at the Mason Inn because it was the closest (of course) hotel to the GMU campus and where my son lives while at school. I couldn't have been more impressed. All of the staff was very friendly and professional. All were helpful. The bar was well run. While I didn't eat while I was onsite, I did see the food that others were ordering, and it looked wonderful.

The room was very comfortable, and the beds were well done. The Business Center was also well maintained and had everything that I needed.

I would happily stay at the Mason Inn again and would easily recommend it to anyone else.

Hi Lynn M.

I am so glad that we opened a hotel here on campus. A lot of parents get to see their kids more often being so close to them on campus and I am glad that you are able to take advantage of our perfect location to do that.

I hope to see you again soon!

Regards.

“Fantastic, Friendly & Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

This was our 3rd stay at The Mason Inn, we find it very clean and easy access to GMU! My son is a Sophmore this year, and I am sure we will be staying a few more times unitl he graduates. We would even stay after that if we wanted to visit VA or DC great location! Without the hassle or prices $$$ of DC hotels.

The Staff is very friendly and the food, drinks are moderately priced and very good!

We are looking forward to many more stays at the Inn. We are also looking forward to staying for Graduation in 2015! In fact the whole family will be coming along!
