Everything about this hotel is all but perfect. I had pretty high expectations after reading a lot of the reviews, and I was still surprised. We arrived at around 1pm and they had a room ready for us up on the 7th floor. A gorgeous corner room. There was a problem for some reason and our bank card wouldn't go through, and the girl at check-in (Leslie is her name, if I remember correctly) was SO helpful. She was calling places left and right trying to figure out the problem. She was really great. The location itself is very convenient to the Patriot Center, which is where we attended a concert. The corner room we received with 2 double beds was very spacious and clean. The front desk brought up more coffee for us and everything. The bathroom was also pretty big, which is really next to impossible to find. It's not huge or anything, but it was big enough for my liking. It is also a very quiet hotel. I cannot think of a sound we heard, which was pleasantly surprising. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to fairfax!

I was told this hotel opened in July 2010, and have to say it still looks brand new. Classy decor, impeccably clean and fresh. Location is great, very quiet. I had an excellent stay and will be using this hotel on my next trip to Fairfax.

Had a Bar Mitzvah in the Ballroom. So many mistakes; here's a few. Appetizer tables were supposed to be set-up in foyer for Cocktail hour and they set up the appetizers inside the ballroom? No food for an hour! Even in the Ballroom the the Hummas table didn't have any Hummas, and other items that was ordered! Tray passed Appetizers were suppose to be served with sauces, served without the sauce. We were suppose to have a Carver to carve turkey and beef, hotel pre-sliced both and put in chafers? Tacky! I told them no cake for the dessert station and they put out german chocolate cake. One of dishes ended up on the dessert table instead of the buffet line. Told them not to use brown linen, yes they used brown linen in the foyer. Asked for 2 tables for sign-in board and gifts, and they put out one. The mistakes just go on and on. If you use the Banquet facilities, make sure you hire someone outside to run the event to deal with all the problems. No one came up to me and said, "I'm the Banquet manager and I'll be taking care of your event." Table diagrams were not followed and menu was incomplete. I was so upset for the first 2 hours then finally calmed down. TOO MANY MISTAKES!!!!! Very unprofessional. Promised everything would be fine. Also, my guests who stayed at the hotel had horrible breakfast service at the hotel that we ended up canceling one of our dinners and went somewhere else. Waited 45 minutes to get their Breakfast. Front desk forgot to give the first 2 gift baskets until I called. Guests did like the rooms and felt it was a wonderful value.

Spent the night at the Mason Inn when visiting the University. Very good dinner in their dining room the night we arrived and a very good buffet breakfast at a great price the next morning. Service was very friendly at all times. Asked for a cab that morning for our trip to the airport and the order was immediatly called in. The cab even arrived early which allowed us to catch an earlier flight home. Easy walk to the campus. Can't get any more convienient. Don't see why you would stay elsewhere if you have business at George Mason.
