Having just left an overpriced hotel in Washington DC, in order to stay here for a family reunion for a few days, I was very pleasantly surprised by this place, my first experience with a Hampton Inn. Certainly, the price was right, at $80, compared to the nearly $200 I paid for the place in downtown DC which was not nearly so well run.
The rooms are fine, nothing to write home about, views nothing much either, location not all that interesting, but if you just need a reasonable place to stay with cheerful and helpful front desk staff, a generous continental breakfast in the morning, nice touches such as free newspapers, coffee, tea and apples, and easy wireless internet access, this is a perfectly fine place. I also appreciated some nice little touches, such as the shower curtain rod which is slighly curved to allow more room, good quality shower curtain, a very nice little lap desk (the kind that has a cushion under it) for those of us who to like to work in bed. The breakfast was staffed by a cheeful and efficient gal who clearly enjoyed bustling around to make sure everyone was happy. The front desk man was also very nice and helpful.
The only downside was our room's location, right across from the elevator, so we had a fair amount of hallway noise. But all in all, I will definitely put Hampton Inns high on my list of inexpensive hotels to watch for.
