“Very gracious staff...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

We've been at this Residence Inn for three weeks now because of a flood at our house resulting in a large insurance claim restoration job. The staff here are the best in the business -- from front desk to housekeeping to the folks running the food service. The facility is very clean -- not posh, but very clean and well-appointed. We have a two-bedroom suite with a living room/kitchen/dining room combo. There are three flat-screen HD tvs, 2 bathrooms, 2 queen beds and a sofa bed.

They serve breakfast daily including a waffle iron, fresh fruit, mini muffins, bread and English muffins, scrambled eggs (not real eggs though, I don't think), sausage or thin-sliced Canadian bacon, and either a potato/onion/pepper mix or something called potato pancakes. They also have a variety of cereals. Breakfast is fine for a day or two, but gets repetitive if you've been there a while.

They also serve a dinner meal on Tues, Wed and Thurs. It's usually a protein of some sort (meatloaf, chicken, etc), some starches and a garden salad with rolls and then cake for dessert. It's not fancy, but its pretty good, especially if you don't want to go out. If you do venture out, there's a Logan's Road House, Joe's Crab Shack and McDonalds on the road into the hotel and a couple of smaller restaurants nearby within walking distance. If you have a car there are a multitude of restaurants and three major shopping centers nearby. You're also right on Interstate 66 which makes commuting into downtown Washington easy.

One suggestion: You're at an intersection of two busy roads with a lot of traffic. While it's muffled inside, you can still hear it and if that bothers you (especially sirens) ask for a room which doesn't butt up against the roads or the construction. Pool front should be better and the pool closes at 8, so you don't have to worry about loud swimmers late.

Room Tip: Try to stay away from any side which fronts one of the two major roadways.

Stayed for a weekend, this hotel was a great choice. For the money, it had as many or more free amenities as other hotels that were more expensive. The rooms were clean, and had anything you need for a short or extended stay. Full refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, great flat screen TV, sofa with pull out bed, wifi, stovetop. The free breakfast was great and well organized, make sure to take advantage. Location was good, right next to restaurants and very close to to gas stations, target, wall mart, etc. I will stay again in the future.

This hotel is rather small and quite near fair lakes, the best part is it has kitchen, housekeeping was excellent, I will definitely come back and stay here.

This property is renovated and looks nice. However, pretty tile and fresh carpeting do not make up for the lack of service/amenities. Stayed in a 2-bed suite. Beds in each suite make it hard to move around. Bathrooms are spacious enough. Very clean and well kept. However, the amenities you pay for at the Residence Inn (b-fast, dinner, sport court) are woefully declining. This RI only serves dinner Tues - Thurs. Dinner is reheated frozen or canned items. What happened to the "home cooked" meals and cookouts on the grill? No beer or wine served at this RI as well. Sport Court was falling apart which was a bummer for my family on a long, extended stay.

Room Tip: Avoid construction areas! Ask about where you room is located before you check-in!

We have stayed here several times as it is near family. The suite is nice and roomy, we like having a fridge and microwave. Separate sink and shower area is always a plus as it seems like we are always getting ready at the same time. The staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was the usual microwaved eggs, but if you are hungry enough you can find something you like. Clean quiet rooms. My only complaint was the black out curtains didn't really block much outside light. We will continue to stay here when visiting relatives.

The room smelled really clean but we were greeted with a large hairy bug in the tub immediately after checkin. We saw another bug later in our stay in the living room. Perhaps it was just a fluke. Otherwise the room was clean.

The biggest issue with this room was there was no wireless internet connection. Also the pet fee is outrageous ($150 flat fee for 1 to many nights).

Breakfast was good but short (only goes to 9am). Evening light dinner some nights.

No outdoor pool (like som Marriotts have) so the kids were a bit disappointed but I think the tennis court made up for this. The exercise room (which I did not use this time around) looks like the typical size.

The beds were comfortable. Modern TVs in the rooms. This residence inn has not been modernized like some of the other ones. Its decor is older.

The staff was nice.

Restaraunts are nearby (some within walking distance).

Ask for a room on the third floor. The building was constructed so that the first and second floors can hear every step the folks above them take.
