“Hidden away, but worth the time.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

First Watch is hidden in a strip mall shopping center off Main Street in Fairfax, VA. Didn't think I would think much of the place when we stopped in there for breakfast a few weeks ago, but was very surprised to find the healthy choice options and tasty preparations. It was crowded and there was a bit of a wait, but it was definitely worth it. Have now been there for both breakfast and lunch and was not disappointed when we went back. Salads are nicely prepared and the food is very fresh. Staff are friendly and turnover is quick. Definitely would recommend this place if you are looking for a health alternative to your typical Denny's or IHOP.

“FirstWatch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Very good food and service here. We've had breakfasts as well as lunch. It isn't a large place, so there can sometimes be a line. At this time they do not offer gluten-free. There open times are very limited -- something like 7:30 am - 2 pm. Get on their e-mail list to receive monthly coupons.

Deborah K - Thank you for visiting! We are happy you always enjoy our food and service. Great tip on the Sun eClub too! We do have many gluten free options, and we apologize for not letting you know that while you were with us, so next time you visit please ask your server and they can go over all of our choices with you. You may also view them on our online menu if you'd like to plan ahead! Hope to see you again soon!

“An upscale IHOP -type place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

First off--cage -free eggs!! How wonderful. We had Eggs Benedict with Turkey (an option) and Raisin Bread French Toast. The poached eggs were overcooked, but there was plenty of turkey meat underneath. The skillet potatoes were plenty too. The French toast was nice, served with fruit preserves (could have used more, normal serving size though) and powdered sugar. Not until I asked about the table syrup contents did I realize that on the menu there is an option to buy real Maple Syrup in a small jar for less than $2; that is a nice touch. The iced tea was nice and there are Herbal hot tea options. All-in-all, a nice place for what it is. They try with organic yogurt, cage free eggs and turkey items to serve a better quality food. I wish the fresh strawberries were organic.

“Great little place but can get crowed around noon.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

Go before noon so you don't have to wait. The hours are limited to breakfast and lunch so 12-closing is busy. This is a heavy retirement community so many take advantage of this place. Avoid Wednesdays after the local theater lets out, it's seniors mornings.
As far as food, I've always enjoyed everything I've ordered breakfast/lunch. Good value for the food. Service has always been good. Decor is a little too old so the ambiance is lacking. Not a trendy spot but the food is good.

“Great place for breakfast or lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

We eat here frequently for breakfast on the weekends. The pancakes are great and very filling. We particularly enjoy the pancake-egg-bacon combo. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and quite delicious. The wait staff is always friendly and reasonable fast. The atmosphere is like a diner but is clean and pleasant.
