“If you like Firearms, You Are In The Right Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2014 NEW

The museum houses collections of all types of firearms. Some of these firearms are older than our country. There are guns from all of our wars, guns from the Civil War, guns used in motion pictures, guns "that won the west", and guns from private collections used for hunting and target shooting. All of them are in beautiful condition. There are no fees to visit the museum, and there is a very nice shop to buy books and other items. This is a nice way to spend an afternoon.

“Excellent Presentation of Firearms Impact on History & Culture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2014

Visited this museum twice in August to escort visitors. This museum offers really interesting lessons on the history of firearms in general and their role in the US in particular. You do not repeat not have to be a firearms "buff" to appreciate and enjoy this museum. In addition, to displays of both ancient and modern firearms, the museum offers a history of their development, role and impact on both the world's history and culture. I was especially impressed with the "air rifle" used by Lewis & Clark on their exploration of discovery. It really did play a key role in the success of their journey and only a few historians (to my knowledge) have written about its impact. In addition to sport weapons, collector weapons and military weapons, there is also a section on Hollywood weapons and the actors what used them. The art on the collector weapons is also very beautiful and impressive. I do suggest the museum improve its audio/visual devices which are supposed to give you the history of various weapons. My friends and I found them often slow and unresponsive.

“Good history lesson”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2014

The museum is in the NRA building which presupposes a political bias. However, it is very well laid out and showcases the development of firearms and the sometimes ingenious ways they are made.

“Very Interesting and Well Done!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2014

I shoot all the time at the NRA range, and decided to take in the museum one day. What a great museum! Even if you are not into firearms, this is a great slice of American History as well as the history of firearms. Must be nearly 2000 weapons with a lot of "back story" of how they came to be and their place in history. Also a nice collection of "Guns of Hollywood". Dioramas are super in explaining a number of processes and story lines. ... don't miss this!

“Very Interesting”

Lots of cool and surprising firearms - in form, purpose, and variety. The only downside is that you can't test fire them. It takes about 90 minutes to really look at everything.
