“Close proximity to IAD.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

Hosted a wonderful event there. Hotel ballroom was nice, so was the lobby. However one of my guests staying there had a roaches in their room. I was so disappointed (and embarrassed) Breakfast was pricey. If you have issues with walking, or the elderly, corridors are very long and far from the elevator. This hotel is mainly a transit hotel for travelers. The plus side of this hotel is the close proximity to the airport. The shuttle runs back and forth every 15 minutes. If you have to stay in this area, there are an abundance of other much nicer, updated and newer hotels (with shuttle service) and free complimentary breakfast.

Room Tip: If you are the elderly or have walking issues, don't book at this hotel, corridors are very very...

This Marriott offers the experience one expects from a Marriott: a clean room, a comfortable bed, in-room coffee maker, a large TV, and peace and quiet. For an airport hotel, had surprisingly nice views—courtyard or a small lake with just blooming cherry trees. In terms of frustrations, the layout of the hotel is not conducive to suitcases, especially rollers. The hotel has long hallways of sleeping rooms—with stairs halfway down these hallways. Furthermore, the hallways are a bit far from the lobby—too far for a hotel where people are supposed to come and go quickly. Also note that the restaurant wasn’t really operating the night I was there. That was a problem because we were there for a business meeting and needed something quieter than a bar—and that served food. Overall, recommend the hotel for a quick, business oriented stay.

This is a great hotel if you have business by the airport or have been stranded by United Airlines in IAD for the night. The rooms are decent and have been updated but can see the wear on the hotel. The restaurant is good but a little pricey as you might expect but the food is actually pretty good. The van service is very dependable as it departs for the terminal every 15 minutes and the staff is good about driving you to other local restaurants and the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum. The staff at check in/out is pleasant and welcoming, as is the staff at the restaurant and bar. A good hotel if you are just staying out at the airport area and not going downtown.

Check-in was absurdly slow despite an abundance of hotel staff standing around. Hotel staff throughout our stay didn't seem to understand customer service or general friendliness. You have to be assertive to get attention or service. Our room had a beaten up old mini refrigerator that looked like it had a seen one too many college parties, and there was a giant fan sitting next to it, which made us wonder if the AC had experienced trouble recently. The room furnishings were dated and the bathroom didn't even include a blow drier. One pillow was missing a case. On a positive note: The bed was comfortable and the shuttle to and from the airport was very convenient. Not recommended unless you just want the best proximity to the airport.

We've stayed in this hotel a number of times and have never been disappointed. It's an excellent choice if you want to park and fly. The rooms are clean, and the service to and from the airport is prompt.

Stay away from this hotel! They totally exploit their patrons! If you've got no car, you're a captive and they'll milk you for all you've got. You'll have no choice but to eat in the hotel lobby where meals cost the same as in a high end restaurant, but without the service. You have to watch them at every turn, as they'll try to charge you for costs you never incurred. They tried to charge me for a breakfast buffet I never had. Our first evening there we ordered food during happy hour when it was half price, and didn't receive it till 3 hours later when happy hour was over! Rather than apologize for their bad service and make amends, they added insult to injury by charging us full price, not even giving us the happy hour reduction! The only good thing about the hotel is their free shuttle service to the airport every 15 minutes.

Stayed here for one night recently and it is very convenient to Dulles Airport. The front lobby/bar area looked new and nice, but our room seemed tired and dated. Old worn looking furniture. Also the layout of this hotel is weird, kind of sprawling and confusing. The room was clean enough, and the shampoo and body wash were very nice, but overall this Marriott in my opinion does not live up to the Marriott standard. However, I would not hesitate to stay here again due to the close proximity to Dulles Airport.
