“This Marriott Hotel has lost its way!”

Having been a regular guest at the hotel for several years, I have gradually watched the Dulles Airport Marriott become run-down and tired looking. Admittedly the reception and bar restaurant has been refurbished but the rooms are not up to the standard you would expect of a Marriott hotel. Twice on previous stays I found that the indoor pool was not heated so didn't bother to try the pool this time. The main restaurant for dinner and breakfast used to be a spacious area with windows to the front of the building now dinner is served in the bar area and breakfast is served in a small windowless claustrophobic section off the main reception. The dinner menu is very limited for a hotel of this standing. Seriously considering trying another hotel near the airport as this hotel has really lost its way..........

My husband and I had a flight plan that spanned two days and we needed a hotel for the night near the airport. We chose the airport because of its proximity and also to earn Marriott points. The hotel is recently renovated and has a nice focus on customer service. We ate at the lobby restaurant, which was delicious (and a bit pricy). Breakfast was not included and we did not eat there for breakfast. Bed is comfy and bathroom is spacious. Good value and would stay again!

I stayed one night at this facility. The beds were terrible it was the equivalent to sleeping on air mattress/waterbed. The mattresses seemed like they had been on the beds since the facility first opened and I was the 100,000th person to have slept on them. I had a room with double beds and both mattresses were the same just sinking and tossing and turning all night. The trek to my room from the lobby seemed like a mile and half from the lobby.

Extremely convenient location as it is less than 5 minutes from the airport. Have stayed here a couple of times overnight due to a layover. The hotel has an inviting bar / cafe area with a full restaurant off to one end. Ate at the restaurant this last visit. The food is good with nice size portions. I had the onion soup and the salmon with salad and it was too much. They have a nice selection of wines.

The rooms I have had are big and look like they were remodeled recently. The beds were very comfortable and the bath rooms had nice amenities.

The shuttle service is prompt and efficient. Definitely a great choice if in the neighborhood.

You learn by your mistakes, and I learned from my recent stay at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott.
It was strictly a stay of convienence (overnight flight crew), but added this property to my "never again" list and not worth the convenience factor.
It seems that it is from the 50"s format of motels wherein, if you draw one of the short straws, you get to walk a 1/4 mile to your room...not fun after a 14 hr duty day!
The rooms are okay, nothing special, but for the most part, the employees are friendly and helpful except for the bartenders who were definitely not happy in their work!
The food was plain, and cokes were $6!
It seems that this property's only claim to fame is their newly renovated, opened-aired lobby, restaurant, lounge. It didn't make things right folks!
What was hard to believe though is that a hotel this large, and high priced has one printer available at their so called "business center", and it was not working. The front desk associate said it had been "broken" for three days, so this hotel was usless for my business needs.
Then on my second day before checkout, I came back to my room after lunch to brush my teeth, and my bathroom sink was half full of black, debris-filled water.Truely gross.
After I told the desk person this, he said " I guess we need to check that out."

There are other choices close by Dulles rather than go through that experience again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is in the same zip code as the front desk!

Amazing location, good value, and nice facilities. A great place to stay in the western DC suburbs, and incredibly convenient to the airport. Shuttles run constantly, and one is always within a few minutes of the airport. Excellent (if modest) conference facilities. Rooms are very clean, quiet, good heating / AC, with large TVs. Bathrooms are a little on the small side. Employee ervice is excellent, and employees really go the extra mile to ensure comfort. A front desk employee was very helpful in helping me change a reservation, with not the least bit of annoyance in the middle of a confusing situation that I had created. Restaurant and bar facilities are adequate, with (no surprise) excellent service.

Have stayed here at least 7 times through the years, and now again in March 2013. Reviews for this property are all over the place. I guess your viewpoint depends upon several factors (price paid, room location, elite perks?). Up front, I'll tell you I've never had a bad experience here, and wouldn't stay anywhere else at Dulles.

Five stars because I always get a huge bang for my buck here. The front desk staff is beyond great. I dealt with a lady named Annam (I hope I have this spelled correctly), who set a wonderfully positive tone for the stay. Upon arrival, I got a second room so that my daughter and granddaughter could join us on the night before our flight out. Annam made sure I had connecting rooms at the best possible price, free parking for my whole upcoming trip, and a late checkout. Fantastic service.

Pool was clean, warm, and we had it all to ourselves. The hot tub was not functioning at the time, sadly. We had dinner in the bar/lounge area (restaurant seating area was not opened that evening but dinner menu still available in Bar). A really delicious meal, served expertly and graciously, at a reasonable price. Delightful from start to finish. Happily surprised again this year at high quality of food here (Breakfast not so much, but can't have everything).

With free parking for the trip, great dinner, a comfortable room, friendly staff, and convenient shuttle service to the airport, I don't know how you could do better...especially if you are a Marriott Silver, Gold, or Platinum member. Great Stay!
