“ok for the value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

The hotel is not a bad deal if you are looking for a non expensive room with some flaws. The free hot breakfast is a 5 rated for this Inn very good indeed! The rate I got was $47.20 for king non smoking room which had a refrig, safe, coffee pot, tv, and microwave oven, table and chairs. They do need to improve on their maid work though. The bed was comfortable sheets clean but faded (time to buy new 1's) but things needed dusting, their towels were on their last legs too but absorbed fine! They had a large swiming pool too. This place was about $30 lower than others as I was only passing through Roanoke Va for the night.

Room Tip: some rooms have hot tubs but run around $100 a night our room which faced the se area were excellent...

Last year, I had an excellent stay here. So I was happy when I saw that I could get a decent price here to evacuate from the storm.

But things weren’t as good this time. The rooms were still in decent condition and comfortable. The breakfast was still good, although there was one incident where a staff member threw away a full plate of food when I got up to get a drink. When I asked him why he did this, he simply shrugged his shoulders, with no hint of an apology, or even comprehension.

The public spaces were starting to show some wear. There were broken and missing light fixtures in some of the outside areas. The pool was dirty with the water down about half a foot. The printer on the computer (“business center”) in the lobby was not connected and unusable.

The wireless access was down for over 70% of the visit, bad during an ordinary visit, worse when you’re trying to get town specific information during a major storm. The manager actually had the gall to blame the storm on the internet outages. Really? The storm brought only partly cloudy conditions to the area of this motel, but it was somehow responsible for the property’s lack of internet access? The manager was equally ambivalent about the dirty pool and the printer. No effort to repair. No apologies.

So it seems that staff turnover has turned a top-quality roadside motel into a mediocre one. Hopefully, another round of staff turnover will bring things back to the way they were. Maybe I’ll see it on a future trip, but more likely, I’ll see how his competitors are doing instead.

1st room given when turned on room lights cockroaches went running. Then we were given a second roomwe found dirty washcloths hanging on shower curtain bar, phone and tv remote didn't work and dead cockroaches also several spider webs.Needless to say if I wasn't so tired I would have left as it was I didn't sleep afraid something might crawl on me. It might be a cheap hotel but please think twice before staying there.

People on here did not lie about this place! Front desk very good the rooms are great for the price if they were cleaned right. House keeping needs fired the towels really are yellow with a couple white ones mixed in. Hairs on the towels , hairs that do not match the towel hair in the beds. You could tell right away in our room one of the beds had been remade badly with the sheets not washed, Lamp shades are in the worse condition I ever scene hotel shades. I paid 37 total for this room on travelocity I do not expect much but its hard trying to sleep in a bed you know the sheets were not washed in. Pool rail still loose just like the review in June stated. Next time I will stay here but we will bring our own linens and ask house keeping for the vacuum .

- room smells so bad even turning air condition after couple hours
- pillows, bed linings were not clean and good condition
- bathroom not in good condition

Honestly, I rather to sleep in my tent instead of the bed :)

This is my opinion and try to be respectful but the truth is truth..

While the staff at the front desk tried their best to make our stay pleasant an aging property and poor cleaning service took away from their efforts. The cleaning staff refolded used towells and rehung them rather than giving us fresh. Air conditioner worked but was a bit noisy. Free breakfast was pretty standard with some hot items included (biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs), Breakfast room was spacious and clean. Overall probably OK for an overnight stay.
