“Charming inn with spectacular views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

My wife and I had a wonderful two-night stay this past weekend. The hosts are charming, the accommodations comfortable, the breakfast delicious, and the surroundings spectacular. I would have given it a higher rating, but for two things. One cell phone service is spotty - at best. We had left young children behind on this trip and being completely out of touch - while it sounds peaceful - was actually a little nerve wracking. Additionally we were visiting our son at UVA and while the inn is close enough to Charlottesville and we will stay there again - probably not for a trip where we plan to be in town.

We just finished our 8th or 9th weekend stay an the Inn. It was another wonderful stay - comfortable rooms, yummy breakfasts, beautiful grounds, excellent staff and lots to do in the vicinity. As usual for our fall/winter visits we had a fire in our room. And the close proximity to Shenandoah Natl Park means we could do a hike in the park to enjoy the fall colors.

The Inn at Sugar Hollow was cozy and comfortable...just what we wanted. The Inn Keepers couldn't have been more accommodating. Dick, Hayden, and Bit helped us find restaurants, wineries, hiking paths and a monastery that makes local Gouda cheese. The breakfast was a feast. While my husband was on his long early morning run, he spotted a bear. He was thrilled. We will return.

Motoring up their drive we had to stop numerous times for deer meandering across the drive....what a beautiful scene. Music was softly playing in our room upon arrival and had a view of a lookout from the Blue Ridge Parkway. This all set the stage for a wonderful getaway! The Inn is spotless, the breakfasts are wonderful, and the Innkeepers and staff delightful. We cannot wait to visit again!

Room Tip: We were shown all the rooms in the main inn and felt we would be happy in any of them!

We had family and friends stay at the Inn, and could not have been happier! We had wonderful breakfasts every morning, and Dick and Hayden made us feel right at home. We were far from Spring Hill, TN, but we found that Hayden shared our distant home town with us when a child. Bit's emails before our arrival gave us lots of ideas for our day trips and for local restaurants as well. The map he provided got us around the area easily and even managed to get us back in the dark from Charlottesville, when we lost our way. We would definitely stay here again, and recommend the Inn highly!

The Inn, and especially the staff, exceeded all our expectations. The setting is beautiful, and the Inn and farmhouse are both fine facilities, exquisitely furnished and well maintained. Dick and Hayden (the Innkeepers) are our new friends, not just our recent innkeepers. Their staff is equally warm and personable. They went far out of their way to assure that our stay was perfect. Breakfast is wonderful; it is not just the standard. Fresh vegetables and creative dishes were a delight. We even asked for recipes. The setting is indeed a remote mountain "hollow". That's the charm, but unfortunately it also means that there is no cell phone coverage. Dick and Hayden offer free landline service. Wi-fi is available in the main house, but not the farmhouse. We'll return; it was that good.

Room Tip: The farmhouse is wonderful, but if WiFi and instant access to telephone are important, stay in the m...
