Alright, so I guess people are finding my reviews helpful here on Trip Advisor and I think it's pretty cool. So, I've decided to start posting things on here more often.
I'm starting with a restaurant in my hometown, the Dockside. I've been eating here for the last fifteen years. It's been through many changes. Ate here last week and here's what I have:
My wife ordered a burger and it was fabulous. I got the crab cake dinner. Mediocre. Roll was tough, crab cakes fell apart and the veggies were stale and chewy. Seafood is expensive and I am happy to pay $25.99 for a nice crab cake dinner. But not for this one.
There are two atmospheres you will get at Dockside. Inside, a modest attempt at fancy has been poorly pulled off. It's not terrible, but it's not the best either. Outside, there is a screened-in porch and on Friday and Saturday nights in the summer, you'll get to see some pretty decent live cover bands. There's a tiki bar and some seating out by the beach as well.
It's not as lively as it used to be, but to be fair, none of the restaurants in the area are anymore. Sadly, CB is trying to hear towards the rich and retired and everything is quite dismal these days.
Many people come in from out of town to visit Colonial Beach and since I love it here, I want visitors to have a good time.
My advice? Come on a Friday night during the summer and order a beer and a burger. You'll have fun and it won't break the bank.
If you must have some seafood, get some crabs from Shady Lane seafood and find a table in the park to chow down. :)
