When traveling to Savannah last month, we decided to break up the drive and were very pleased that we found The Oaks. It’s just off of I-81 and the perfect midway point from our home in Westchester.. When we arrived Linda and Bernie invited us into their home and sat and talked with us for a few minutes. That was the first time we had experienced that type of welcome to a B+B and made us feel like they really care about their guests. They asked us if we needed help with dinner then told us that breakfast was at 9 and asked if that time worked for us and did we have had any special dietary needs. We had a long drive ahead of us the next day and asked if there was any way we could have an early breakfast. Linda told us that that was no problem. There was no “Breakfast is only at 9 sharp and don’t be late”. The next morning, at 7:00, we were treated to a wonderful breakfast and some coffee to go. Just an F.Y.I., Linda makes a homemade granola that is absolutely delicious. We have often toyed with the idea of someday running a B+B but are leery of inviting complete strangers into out home so our favorite question to our hosts is “Do you ever get guests that are impossible to please or just plain weird?“ I imagine it’s kind of scary knowing that anything can be posted in a review for the whole internet world to see. Some of the answers we have gotten have been doozies. Linda shared a couple of stories that were funny, a bit offbeat, but in no way malicious or unkind. And P.S. I do agree …the cookies are great.
