For our first meal on Chincoteague were looking for a good local place with great local sea food – nothing fancy – that was kid friendly. We didn’t find it here. If the humorless bumper stickers with sophomoric sexual innuendo being sold at the register/reception station were not a tip-off that this was not a kid friendly place, being seated alone with our four kids in an auxiliary dining area with a view of the parking lot should have cinched it. We were seated at a plastic picnic table (big box store type) with cloth tablecloths. Our table was the only one in the place without a plexiglass cover, and the tablecloths kept sliding around. The service may very well have been the worst that we have ever experienced. The waitress actually scowled at my wife several times. We had a long wait for our beverage order, a long wait for our food order, and, then, the waitress disappeared. We didn’t see her again until long after we had finished eating. The crabcake was awful, but the crabs were acceptable. Not what we expected. Later, we found a number of places on the island that steam local sea food for take-out that was much better and much fresher.
