Avoid at all costs! The property is crummy and rundown, What they call villas, are tiny duplex style cabins. The full kitchen advertised is nothing more than a closet sized kitchenette. Especially beware thwe "luxury villa," rickety double beds with the cheapest linens possible. Cheap plastic mattress covers rustling wake you up anytime you move in the bed, and the bathroom is tiny with exposed plumbing. When I told the owner we were leaving after one night, I discovered she has some serious anger-management issues. Stay away, it was one unpleasant night.

I love going to Chincoteague island and Assateague for the beaches,fishing and exploring.My family and I have stayed at the Snug Harvbor Marina for many years.The cottages are very neat and clean and sit right on the waterfront.You can even wake up in the mornings and watch the ponies run up and down the shoreline,very cool.We always love to rent kayaks and explore the waterways through the mashlands,if you are into birdwatching this is the best location!

I went to Chincoteague in 2007 and booked a room at Snug Harbor in Chincoteague Va.I was thinking this might be a 5 star resort but it isn't but did find it was a very nice little hotel that offers the best view you will find anywhere.The rooms are very basic but have everything you need.If you aren't to picky about luxury but want the best location in Chincoteague, Snug Harbor is the place.

I stayed at Snug Harbor Marina & Cottages during the July 07 pony swim. The cost was outrageous in comparison to neighboring rental houses and very dirty. Our room smelled like sweaty feet (a red flag!) we had to beg for towels and then didnt get any new towels for an entire week. The next door room had a barking dog all night. The worst part is that I got a nasty insect or bacterial bites/rash on my shoulders, back, neck and face from the pillows that still hasnt gone away(2 months later) and have had to make about 6 trips to the doctor - they still dont know what it is but was definitely caused from the pillows and shams in the room.
For the money that we paid (in advance), they need to disinfect each room and do a complete makeover and have a system in place to keep the rooms clean. I would recommend renting a house on the same road, my relatives rented 2 houses within 3 minute walk of Snug Harbor that each slept 6 comfortably with full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, laundry room, 2 tvs, VERY CLEAN for just a little more than what I paid ($1100) for one week for one room at Snug Harbor.
