“Felt like family!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

The first time we went to the Village Restaurant a couple of years ago was memorable for the fun, nice bartenders that were actually servers filling in for the real bartender who called out sick. We had such a good time talking to the ladies that we ate at the bar, which we never do. We were just in Chincoteague again and went to the Village. My husband asked if Rebecca was there. She was and she was tending bar again! She even remembered us. Naturally, we had dinner at the bar. I had fried oysters which were good. My husband had the seafood platter which was delicious. The rice dish had different herbs in it and was good. We both started with the cream of crab soup - yummy. This is a family owned and operated restuaruant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The Village is on the main road so easy to find. The prices were average. We will continue to visit the Village when we are in town.

“Very Enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

The overall experience was excellent. We had a relatively early reservation (6:30) and they were absolutely slammed so I believe reservations are essential if you desire a specific seating. Given the demand, they handled it very well although they did run out of one of the featured vegetables (frozen green beans) by the time we were served. The server tried really hard although he seemed a little overwhelmed but did a really good job. Everything tasted wonderful and fresh and was prepared and presented in the above average to excellent range. We requested a romantic waterview which they graciously accommodated even though they had to give us a table which would seat 6 just for the two of us. We will definitely return to the restaurant on our next trip to the island and recommend it without reservation.

“Meh”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Yes, October is off season, but the food shouldn't be. My wife had a medley of shrimp, scallops and sand. I had the crab cakes - not very good, possibly frozen. The side dish was baby carrots - what can you do to baby carrots? You can leave them sitting in a pot for hours until they are mush. There aren't many good places to eat in Chincoteague - add the Village Restaurant to the list.

“Overrated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

Well another restaurant that is just average. The oysters rockafeller had so much canned spinach on them you couldn't find the oyster. The salad was fresh but the dressing was in a container and obviously 'institutional'. Blue cheese from a grocery store is better than this.
The flounder stuffed with crab was dry and overcooked. Plus if there was any crab in the imperial, you could have never found it. The seafood platter baked with cheese was marginal at best. What a shame for a town known for its clams, oysters and fish not to be able to serve a good catch.
