I've been going to Tom's Cove for about 20 years, though until this week I had not been there in ten years.
It's an ok place in many ways, but it's a little odd. First off, they take reservations only by mail - I mean real mail with stamps. It's like the telephone or internet have not been invented yet. Secondly, they don't take credit or debit cards, so bring cash for your camping and the camp store. Thirdly, a lot of the park is now taken up with semi-permanent little compounds loosely based on a travel trailer - it's a little sketchy, full of tacky lawn stuff, and is beginning to resemble a down on its luck trailer park. Fourth, they do no recognize the Good Sam club. Fifth, they have a small marina for small boats, but no services, including no fuel.
On the good side, the camping areas are clean and so are the bathrooms. There are two nice docks for sitting, fishing, and crabbing. The pool is ok, nothing special. There are some sizable pull thru lots for big RVs - I wouldn't say this place caters to the 45 foot Prevost crowd, but it would do in a pinch. Bicycle rentals are only $10 day - as always, bring cash! There is free wireless but it did not seem to get out a reliable signal, even though we were only about 50 yards from the antenna. Lastly, the place was very quiet at night.
I feel like I have to add that the place seems to attract an unusual amount of in your face political extremists. Also, be careful as you walk around, as the electric golf cart and motor scooter traffic is heavy and constant. Watch your little kids.
