We have been eating (and thoroughly enjoying!) lunch and dinner at various Pollard's locations, mainly in Virginia Beach, but also in Norfolk, for the past 4-5 years. Yesterday we went to their Chesapeake (Battlefield Boulevard) location for the first time and we both agreed that it was not Pollard's best effort. The surroundings (cafeteria style) and the counter service were just about what we usually expect from them, but they let us down in two key areas.
First comes the drinks. Neither of our favorite drinks (Mr.Pibb or Dr. Pepper and Diet Coke or Pepsi) was available. In their place were hand written "out of order" signs. Why do people write signs instead of fixing things?
Then there was the food. We both ordered rotisserie chicken and found it unusually dry. Even my wife's order of quarter dark was dry, which is not a good sign at all. My quarter white was not only dry, but was very very small. It looked like part of a Cornish Game Hen or like they had gone out and killed a three-week old chick. I was about to complain or ask for something else, but my partner, who is almost always right on these things, held me back.
Stick with Pollard's best, which is their fried chicken! You won't be disappointed.
