I will rate this a 2.5 in comparison with other Extended Stay Americas, I have stayed in. Meaning it is not a poor rating, but does not deserve an average rating either. The rooms appear to be recently renovated to the Extended Stay America decor. The issues with my room, were numerous, but overall it was a good night sleep. To begin with, the toilet ran constantly even after repairs were done and there was trash behind a night stand. The walls in the bathroom had greasy handprints all over it. The WiFi was terrible, could not connect at all. They just upgraded their WiFi to 802.11n, but it did not make a difference in the room I was staying in, as I could not connect. I told the guys that were doing the post survey and they said it didn't matter as they were getting good signal. Wow, how could you get good signal when you can't even connect. There was not an option in my room to connect via hardwire either, so had to use the hotspot on my phone. The room I stayed in, wreaked of cigarette smoke. I was woke up one morning by a cloud of cigarette smoke you could see. I tracked it down to the vent in the bathroom. I went to the front desk and they gave me air freshener. It did not help, something about their ventilation from the smoking rooms is overpowering the non-smoking rooms. I ran the fan in my bathroom constantly with a bounce fabric softener sheet attached to it, had to close the door to the bathroom, as the fan is so loud and the light comes on while running it. The hallways on the upper floors are ice cold where they are running air conditioning constantly even when it is 29 degrees outside. The elevator was constantly on the blink, I think it only worked one day while I was there. The outside door has a mind of its own as to whether or not it will accept the key, or whether you need to go to the front to get in. I did not see any type of cleaning the entire 2 weeks while I was there. I only saw one gentleman at the front desk, I believe his name was Robert and he was nice and accommodating. Their was a woman that was at the front desk, but she was always gone or on her cell phone and appeared to be irritated if you asked her anything. Before I stayed there again, I would definitely request a different room if I ran into any of these issues again. Beds were comfortable and rooms were relatively clean.
For non-smokers, ask for a room, FAR AWAY from any type of smoking room

We know that our guests have multiple hotel choices, which is why we strive so hard to accommodate them with clean, comfortable rooms at an exceptional price. In order to meet the needs of our guests, we designate certain rooms for smokers and the rest for non-smokers. Guests who request non-smoking rooms should always be placed in an available non-smoking room. Clearly there was a regrettable error, of which I have made all of our staff aware, during your stay.
Although it is unusual for a guest to have the experience you did while staying with us, we would like to use your account to help us make our hotel even better. Again, I am deeply sorry that you did not have a completely enjoyable stay at our hotel, and I promise that we are focused on total guest satisfaction every day. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at this hotel or to our guest relations team directly by visiting our website and clicking the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. I do hope that you will let me demonstrate our redoubled efforts in the future here or at any of Extended Stay Hotels(sm)' other locations throughout the U.S. and in Canada
