Passion is a special place. It's one of those rare, hard to find, unique and special restaurants. It's the kind of place you think of when you have a special occasion. But they make every occasion special, so maybe we should not think of Passion as a place only for special occasions. And why not? The menu is varied and variable. The decor is decidedly upscale but not over done. The service is attentive and just about perfect. And the food ... oh, the food.
Food is a passion at Passion. The name and the story behind that name tells you that (just check out the display boards in the passage way near the rest rooms). The food is prepared with great care and passion and presented with both art and passion. On our most recent visit (yes, it was indeed a special occasion!) we sampled several of the appetizers (appropriately called a list of "tapas"), two entrees new to us (one a special), wine, beer, and dessert with coffee. Everything we had met or exceeded our expectations.
Chesapeake and all of the Hampton Roads communities have more than their share of good restaurants, many of which are national chains or multiple-site local chains. But none of them really has the same passion for great food and a great dining experience as Passion the Restaurant.
