Here's my experience:
Location: Pretty far from 64 and highway access. About 10 minutes out of the way for me compared to the other options in the area.
Outside: It is in a modern strip mall.
Inside: This place is nice but it is not classy. It has a low construction cost feel to it.
Clientèle: blue collar workers and locals. more of a country casual feel.
Music: traditional Japanese but horrible echoey sound. Was near unbearable. Like a cheap boombox in an auditorium.
Green Tea: Good taste but watered down.
Menu: Huge selection of fish and other sea creatures. Price is average for sushi until you get into the specialty rolls, then your talking $12-$15 per! Not a value by any stretch!
Free cucumber salad appetizer: sweet slight vinegar and very good. Needs more of that lovely seaweed though.
Oh that music is killing me! Just noticed the 40' ceilings and the 6" speakers mounted up high, facing up, paired with the whiny female vocals are the reason it sounds so bad.
The place was not busy, total of 5 people there including myself, but my sushi took almost 20 minutes with no other orders ahead of me.
The soy sauce is harsh like those cheaper brands one would buy to refill table bottles. Not accusing... just saying.
Chintzy door beads, the ugly black light menu and the poorly handwritten special boards don't do this place any justice. This place lacks fit and finish.
Tuna roll: tuna was dark (see picture) but slightly fishy. Too much nori wrapping made it chewy. By itself no soy or wasabi I give it a 5 out of 10.
Christmas Roll: I got this upon recommendation from the server. It's big, $13.00 and pretty good but not great. It's a crab avo roll with more of the slightly fishy tuna. Sweet, crunchy and creamy but not well balanced. Nice mouth feel though. I give it a 7 out of 10.
The rice is here is not sweet or anything really. Almost tasteless.
My lunch was $20. I've had worse sushi but I've had better. Overall I give this place a 6 out of 10. Even if the tuna wasn't fishy, the experience was ruined by the place itself. And the high prices.
